Concerns about hydrolocking

I live in NY and we currently get a lot of rain during this time of the year and plus winter is coming up. You guys running the weapon r or k&n for awhile have you ran into any issues when driving in the rain? Do you have a sock over your intakes? Should I be concern about hydrolocking? Reason I am asking is because I hydrolocked my Integra before a few years ago from a decent puddle and that was a mess. I don't want the same issue with my rdx. I currently have a k&n with a turbosmart recirculation bpv. Nothing else has been change or upgraded performance wise. Have only owned the rdx for 4 almost 5 months. I am slowly adding upgrades. Any input is appreciated. Also any engine mods recommendations I will gladly take into consideration. I'm also planning to swap out the stock intercooler with an ets intercooler.

You do have the advantage of being much higher up in the RDX than an Integra, but if you're running an intake with the pick-up way down toward the wheel well, the risk is the same when driving through water. It'll just take deeper water to get the same result.

That is true. I am higher up. Just was wondering if it's likely to hydrolock the RDX or if anyone has hydrolocked there's with the k&n intake. I have the k&n short ram right now. So it doesn't extend down the wheel well. Thanks for the reply

I live in the desert so I have no first hand experience, but unless you are submerging the filter under water you should be fine. Even some splashing on the filter is fine - a few drops will not lock your motor (hell, people do water injection on purpose to lower cylinder temps). But I want to say the undercarriage of the car should protect pretty well against the occasional splash. If you're worried, there are filter covers out there to minimize chances of water flowing in, but they will also add another layer of restriction (not necessarily major, but it's there). Also, they will obviously still not to crap if you go under water.

RDX has easily twice the ground clearance of an Integra..

Not a chance you will hydro lock a stock k&n intake on an RDX.

lol better safe than sorry. Maybe one day I'll drive it through a lake who knows lol jk. But thank you to everyone who replied. That is true I am much higher than the Integra. It was just a horrible experience. I wasn't one of the lucky ones to just clean the plugs or open the head and remove the water.

Good evening,

K&N even has a dust/water resistant cover for the filter which I use on mine.
