Lightbulb 3 Inch Down & Mid Pipe *GROUP BUY*

Anyone interested in a group buy for a 3" SS down pipe & mid pipe combo w/ flex pipe. Everything is Tig welded and SS. Here are pictures of the prototype model my buddy made for me. He does custom fab work. If we can get 10 people we can get it for $600 shipped. This is SS not mild. What do you guys think?

I have some concerns as mentioned in previous posts,

1. Is there a check engine light?
2. Is there more of an exhaust smell present?
3. Are there any fitment issues that make noise?
4. What are the performance gains of having this?

1. The final product will NOT throw a CEL.

2. There is more of an exhaust smell present in any application such as this. This is because there is no cat to burn the remaining hydrocarbons (HC). Some are worse than others. This one seems to bee on the mild side. My RX8 made my eyes water.

3. I do not understand this question.

4. Gains on a downpipe & midpipe are in the neighborhood of 25 - 30 hp & tq

Another note to add: In the few miles I have been driving, I have noticed at least a 3mpg gain for sure. I have been a lead foot too, so we will see how that climbs.

by my question 3 I mean do any of the parts hit the chassis in any way making a clang or gong knocking noise? My Tanabe touring medalion which was supposed to be model specific (EP3) did this and had to be modified to clear the chassis and now is flawless. It may be a dumb question but I'm trying to rule out any cons here.

^to get the clearance level desired; it needs to be designed on Autocad then mated to a jig to weld.

Also, you need to be a vendor on acurazine in order to sell things.

No clings or gongs. Only con is not having the part. :-)

nicest looking one i seen yet.. and price comparison it seems cheaper then the others made..

looks like it goes for a 3 inch to a 2.5 on the mid pipe so it can bolt to stock?

curious if you will be doing one with a cat on the mid pipe to help with the smell??

At this time there is no plan to do one with a high flow catalytic converter.

Can he make one without the flex pipe? Im not a big fan of flex pipe, rather have just a straight pipe.

Why would you want to do that? Once you step on the gas and engine goes back - all the pressure will go to the piping.

With no turbo flex pipe to absorb the pressure and movement - it will cause the pipe to crack.

Why do to you all downpipe and headers have a flexpipe?
Even with the flexpipe - it still have a chance of the piping breaking.

Just not as quick as the ones without one.

That primary o2 sensor location is sorta iffy to me. Will that down pipe and how the o2 bung is welded on give it the correct a/f reading that the car is actually outputting? The o2 bungs looks quite restrictive, which would only be good for the secondary o2 sensor to get rid of the cel.

Those pictures were of the prototype… He is changing the j-bung to have the o2 sensor in the stream. I just dropped it off to him about 5 minutes ago.

So if someone wanted to run the stock CAT can you just do the downpipe?

I don't know if it would match up correctly. I will ask him.

We'll need payment details for the group buy. I think it would be best to do a deposit up front since you're a fairly new member offering a group buy. I'm sure there are others like myself that are not comfortable dropping $600 on pictures and a promise.

Where is the shop located that's doing the work?

What's the ETA to finish product once deposits have been submitted?

Thanks for putting this together RDXrated.

The shop is here in Fort Lauderdale. I totally understand about the dropping everthing up front. $200 Deposit per person and the rest once they are made. Once we have all the deposits, it should take a week.

Thanks for keeping us up to date RDXrated.

So if I understand correctly, you'll be testing the new bung design prior to the group buy being made right? I just want to make sure it doesn't throw a CEL since the design is going to change a bit.

Unfortunately, there is no option for just the down pipe or just the mid pipe. It was not designed to be interchangeable. Just a full replacement for both. The custom down pipe will not align/match up to the factory mid pipe.

UPDATE: The o2 Sensor was repositioned inline of the exhaust. No CEL after 20 miles of driving so far. Runs strong. I will put another 35 miles on it tomorrow to/from work.

UPDATE: I love this Down/mid pipe. Big power increase. Opens the engine up. More notable is the responsiveness. Still no CEL. If it has not come on by now its not going to.
