PENNZOIL Plantinum synthetic - for RDX
Pennzoil already has published on their website the certification document that indicates that their Platinum synthetic meets Honda HTO-06 standard.

Should there be any reason to think that it is still not safe to use Pennzoil Platinum in the RDX? The Manual indicates that either Mobil 1 or other equivalent synthetic that meets HTO-06 standards should be used.
Recently, I bought a few 4.4L jugs from Walmart for $19.00, and if I don't use it for the RDX, I could still use it in my wife's TSX (which has been on synthetic diet for the past 1 year).
Note: This thread is not meant to stir up any flamewars or highly tensed exchange of opinions. Please just provide constructive opinions and feedback (if you had experience using the Pennzoil in the RDX or similar turbocharged cars). There would be no need for posts that belittle or ridicule the intelligence of posters in this thread. Thank you for your cooperation.

I also bought the Pennzoil Platinum synthetic 5W-30 at Walmart. (They sell it the at the lowest price anywhere) Anyway, any synthetic oil that meets Honda HTO-06 standard is absolutely fine to use in RDX.

Thanks for your feedback. Will probably use the Pennzoil synthetic in my RDX when my other two bottles of Mobil 1 is used up.

Is penzoil cheaper than Mobil 1? If not, I don't see an advantage.
I am very pissed off that Honda has designed MID to come up with such frequent oil change intervals even though you have to use synthetic oil. Average oil change is like 4-5K miles for RDX, thats way to short and conservative given usage of fully synthetic oil. Honda is just trying to give more business to Mobil 1 and make sure dealerships have more business. How come we can't use Mobil 1 Extended Performance that is good for 15K miles / 1 year? Or Amsoil, which is 25K/1 year. We are all stuck with Honda recommendations because no one wants to have a warranty issue. I am fairy confident that Honda made it so conservative to benefit Mobil 1 and keep dealerships in business. What a waste for environment... If BMW is OK to change oil every 10-15K miles, what is so special about Acura/Honda....

Nope, I am a Canadian who is currently in Massachusetts, and I just got a 5 quart jug of Pennzoil platinum for $20.00 (forget your rate conversion, just use 1-1, US sales tax is also much lower).

But considering the fact that the engine oil is fairly cheap and easy to change, @ $20 per 5 qts + $5 for oil filter, changing it twice a year is fairly cheap engine maintenance.
I used to own a 2001 BMW 330i, and yes, the oil change interval was long, up to 1 year!, but the oil was definitely looking beat up by the time I had it changed following the BMW MID.
Wanna keep that turbocharged engine running smooth, change it 2-3 times a year, it should be fine.
