Musky Smoke from Heater

Our 2011 RDX has suddenly started to stink like old cigarettes when the heater is running. Seems like the smell slowly disapates, but I could just be getting nose blind to it on my morning commute. Does anyone know of why this might be happening and have a fix?

I also am planning to pull apart and clean the system as best I can. Anyone able to point me towards a DIY on doing this? Thanks!

Have you tried replacing your cabin air filter?

This, for sure - step 1. If yours is gunked up it can definitely affect what smells flow into the cabin. If your humidity is higher than normal, it could also make the smell more apparent (no clue what your location is).

I'm going to pull the filter this weekend. I'll give an update after that!
