Verizon Iphone 4 HFL with a 2005

Verizon Iphone 4 HFL with a 2005
I searched around as best I could and really couldn't find posts with people's experience for this case. I'm in the market for an iPhone4 and the Acura HFL site (http://www.acura.com/handsfreelink.aspx) claims the Verizon version is not compatible with my 2005 TL (non-nav). It appears the Verizon version is compatible with some later year models (2007 and on).
Can anyone confirm this with an 05 ? The AT&T is listed as compatible but Verizon has an unlimited data plan and supposedly better coverage. I'm inclined to believe the hands free link site unless someone's actual got some experience in this particular case. I could live without HFL but it sure is nice to have.
