Speaker Size and a little More
Hello All,
I am looking into getting rid of my 07 X3 and replacing it with the RDX.
Can anyone tell me (or point me in the right direction) what are the speaker sizes in the doors and how much space is there in the trunck area to hide away (not top mount) at least two Alpine Amps roughly 10"x12"x4".
Also is the XM harness pre wired? Or is that additional?
Audio is very important to me as it is part of my job to compare and contrast audio processing on rdio stations and their competitors (whether XM, iPod, HD, etc...)
The rest of the vehicle I have researched and will decide when I test drive it over the up coming weekend.
Many Thanks, :-)

I haven't heard of anyone here that has a custom system in the RDX.
The XM harness is prewired and I don't believe you'd have any trouble mounting the two amps in the back.

I would like to know what you find, and maybe see any pictures you may take. I just picked up an RDX today, and I plan on putting a couple of amps and my sub's in there.
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

Non tech package. It appears that 6.5 seperate components will fit nicely in the front doors. 6.5 co-axial in the rear passenger, and 4 in the far tail gate area. I am still stumped as to where to mount amps as the back area is all taken up by the spare. Anyone know if there is space under the back passenger seats?
Looks like the new shallow depth Pioneer sub will fit nice in the back right cargo panel as you face the frontl.

Door speakers are 6.5" and about 3" deep. You should be able to fit most 6.5" component sets in there. Tweeters are big, you shouldn't have issues replacing them with most aftermarkets.
Rear doors are also 6.5", coaxial however.
There is a good amount of space under the trunk floor for amps if you ditch the spare tire.
A double DIN DVD deck can be done where the factory screen is but it's a heck of a lot of work... See my thread in the audio section.
