How to update system Firmware not GPS DVD disc maps

Hello,
How do we update the firmware of the RDX system from the console.
When I first got it the salesman pushed a sequence of things on the dash and got into a system menu. There he updated the system firmware.

How is this done?

Thanks,
Jake

I was under the impression newer discs included firmware updates? Maybe the dealer has a tool to upgrade only the firmware, but I highly doubt this feature is available to consumers. Even so, if you're looking for features added via firmware updates, that's not in the cards. If you're having stability issues, maybe just visit the dealer again? Otherwise a firmware update should not even be on the radar.

^Tom:

I'm not having any issues thank goodness.

I was there when he did it. If i can recall correctly (it was almost 5\6 years ago) my buddy went into the info screen I believe. Then he tapped a couple of buttons on the central stack in sequence, maybe even held two down at a time.. either way, a service menu came up. One of the options was an over the air update. It looks and checks if there is one.. and if so updates.

I'm still in contact with the guy.. He works at a Honda dealer so his service tech may know too.. I will try to inquire.

I think you can get to a info screen by:

car on (running or not, doesn't matter) pressing menu, cancel and map/guide at the same time.

that brings you to a diagnostic/info menu. I haven't dug around in there.

YES. Thank you.

This is what I was talking about. There is a download button and it does allow you to update something over the air. I did it but don't think my version changed. (See attached image)

Purchased the 2015 white DVD. Waiting for it to come in the mail. I think that may also update different aspects of the GPS interface.

Updated my GPS DVD and then re-ran the download.

I had the factory one for 07 in there..

I knew it was not going to change any interfaces as it didn't.. but its good to know that I have the latest in road\freeway\POI data.

Anybody have any details on this firmware update? As GSJake said; likely no interface changes; but i'm curious about any other "under-the-hood" updates that this firmware would have impacted by upgrading. ...

Thanks sp00l3d for providing the steps to access the diagnostic menu!!

If you mean engine ecu by "under-the-hood" then I highly doubt this affects any thing in that area.. mainly GPS\Radio stuff.

I do want to know though like you said on what the firmware affects.

Its nice to have.. just had to use it yesterday and all the construction that was going on the last few years had been updated!

I bought it on Ebay. I think I got it for around $100.00 shipped!

Current ones are 150, but if you're willing to settle for one a year behind you can sometimes find them as cheap as 50 bucks.
