Broken backup camera help

So my wife has an '08 RDX with the tech package. A rogue shopping cart hit the backup camera and broke the glass lens. I called the stealership to ask about replacement and he quoted me $500 plus installation which is just an unacceptable amount for such a minor part. Does anyone know if that camera has a standard video plug and power ground wire, or is it a proprietary plug design? I'm fairly savvy and have no problem doing the replacement myself if a standard backup camera will work. Any input would be appreciated.

WOW! I didn't realize the backup camera was made of solid gold... Seriously though, I'm not sure if it's proprietary. The part number is 39530-STK-A01, there's one on ebay just now for 300 or best offer.

Looks like a 6 pin connector, 2 grounds, 1 power, an overall shield and 2 signal lines. Hope this helps.

Thank you. Looks like it does have a special pin connector and I dont know if I can convert the RCA on a standard camera to work. I may just go for the one on ebay but even $300 is pretty excessive for something that can be had for $50 in a universal form. Does anyone know how to take this diagram and convert a regular aftermarket camera to work?

Not familair with the RDX rear cam. It looks like it must have some processing going on inside the camera like an adaptable view? If you just buy a cheap camera from eBay it looks like you would map the shield on the video output to CAMERA SH, the video signal to VCC, the camera + voltage (power) to CAMERA V, the camera ground to CAMERA GND. The rest would be left unconnected.

Typically the cheap cameras (like the eBay one I put on my 06 TSX) have am RCA video feed, a power and ground. Whenever the camera is powered it outputs the video on the RCA. In my case I powered it from the reverse light. The navigation system senses the video signal and switches it onto the screen. The RCA plug can be cut off if you need. The Shield (the braid on the outside) can be crimped to a wire to put in the connector. The center conductor is the video signal.

Worse case get a cheap camera and hook it up and see if it works before doing the final install.

VCC is usually an acronym for Voltage at the Common Collector (i.e. power connection). Proceed with caution!
