What's the farthest you've gotten on a tank of gas?
Today I reached the 355 mile mark with a trip computer average reading of 19.8 MPG, and I almost ran out of gas doing it. I hadn't planned on stretching the RDX's gauge to the limit, but I was trying to make it to my highway exit to get me to the nearest gas station near home. The "Low Fuel" warning had come on a good number of miles earlier and I don't remember how many more I put on with the "Range" declaring zero, I'm guessing at least 30 miles. Much to my chagrin, with the exit in sight, the engine slowed, sputtered and died, bringing me to a halt within a couple hundred feet of the off-ramp. Luckily I was in the right lane already and I had plenty of time to hit the hazards and pull safely out of the lane of travel. With the engine dead, steering was noticeably more difficult, but not impossible -- however, I suspect anything more than a lane change might prove otherwise.
I sat there for a minute or two, swearing to myself and praying that it wasn't as bad as I thought. Turning the key, my suspicions of fuel resettling in the tank after sitting still were confirmed -- relief came over me when the engine started up smoothly and with my foot gingerly on the accelerator pedal, I found I had enough fuel to make the 1/4 mile distance to the gas station with maybe a moment or two of engine hesitation. I will warn everyone now that an empty RDX fuel tank DOES NOT show the needle all the way at the bottom like it does when vehicle power is off -- in truth it's more like a millimeter or two just below the "E" line. Another little surprise came when I topped off the tank and the RDX drank a whopping 18.623 gallons -- quite a bit above its 18 gallon manufacturer rating.
*DISCLAIMER* -- No I didn't do this on purpose and yes I know running out of gas is bad for the engine, so please save the chastising and recriminations. But, at least with my experience comes some useful real-world information for RDX owners and I don't ever plan on repeating ever again, accidental or not.

I got around 450 miles per tank (27mpg) a couple of times when driving across Wyoming and Montana last summer. Those were flat to rolling highways with the cruise control on all day. I don't know if the higher elevation there makes a difference.
My usual around town mileage is around 350 miles per tank (20-21 mpg). I don't have a lead foot and don't drive all the way down to 0 on the range meter.

The tank is 18. The "Fuel Capacity" including the lines is a bit higher.
Nice work Cosmo!
I typically get 360-370 between fill ups (CL type S), but on an annual trip to Upstate NY (all highway, I have pushed to 460 (399.9 when the gas light came on).

316.9 miles
15.936 gallon fill-up
19.85 calculated
20.6 trip computer
That is as far as I have gone before getting fuel.

About 300-310 (dont recall), but driving it until it stalls is no good, and the light for low gas should be taken as a step to go get it filled up as soon as you can. I usually fill up as soon as the light comes on or right when it reaches low, by the gauge meter.

I have put 17 gallons in before but I don't remember how far I went on that tank. I know I was seweat bullets because I was in sinlge digits. I used to drive pass 0 all the time in my TSX.

I'm not entirely sure on the RDX, but every other Honda/Acura gas guage I've relied on gave you at least 2 gallons when the light comes on.

I also rolled the dice once trying to make my exit, in fact i made it to the pump but I was certainly worried.
I think that was the most I got on a full tank I usually pump it full, I wound up with around 340 or so miles. I go to work roughly 32 miles one way and it 90 % highway but i do around 80 most of the way.
My average mpg trip A- Is 34 MPH.

Just a quick question how are you guys managing to get anything near 400 miles on a tank full are you guys driving like grandmas
.
But seriously you have to be driving super conservative I would imagine in order to get that mileage.

Acura looks to get the same distance from a tank of gas on all of their vehicles. This is why the MDX which had the lowest mileage, got the biggest tank and the RSX which got the best mileage had the smallest tank. In a mixed bag of driving highway/city, you should be in the 350-370 range. If you do a long highway trip as I was mentioning, you can get much further.

On one trip heading from Ohio back to NJ, I got about 375 miles on the tank came out to 23 mile per gallon. Usually get about 340 per tank, that is just highway miles of course and using cruise control 95% of the time, and no mixed driving (Highway/City).

Burning Brakes
I have heard a lot of stuff about Lucas Oil fuel additive, better ags mileage etc...
Anyone recommends this in the RDX or any other car for that matter?
