What kind of Spark Plugs?
Anyone know what kind of spark plugs would be a good replacement for the RDX?
I went on NGK's website but they do not have any of their plugs listed that would work. I tried Denso's website and they too do not have a plug they can reccomend. Since this a turbo charged vehicle I assume that a special plug with a certain heat range would be needed. Anyone have any information on replacing spark plugs? Yes I know that the stock plugs will last a long time and probably dont' need to be replaced. |
Go To dealer and get the OEM NGK platinum spark plug I paid 19.50 each because i have account with ACURA dealer in Philadelphia.
Spark plug life last 100 thousand miles. Acura said but i changed at 50 thousnad miles. |
One suggestion. Do a bit oif homework against the OEM part to make sure the specs/heat range match.

I believe you need long life iridiums.
|
The plug is iridium.
The NGK part# SILKR8A-S The Denso part# SC20HR11 ND. (You can buy the Denso at AutoPartsWearhouse for about $10.) torque is 13 lb-ft. |
This Kills me with these parts. Why can't you buy the NGK's from an auto part store? You can only get it thru Acura, just like their tranny fluid. I think it's a scam.
Do you guys think the Denso's are just as good? I hat to pay $20 fot the NGK thru the dealer when I can get the Denso's from the internet and save $40... |
Your local Advance Auto can order the NGKs for $13.00 each.

Thanks for the writeup!!
I am about 50 miles Shy of 53,000 miles and decided it wouldn't hurt to replace the plugs. The plug Replacement went smooth, I got the (DENSO Part #3444) through a buddy at NAPA for 10.98 per plug (a dollar discount each got me out the door for $42) I even soaked the intercooler in a mild degreaser and flushed it with water. Iv attach images of the used plugs, seems the plugs are burning even across each cylinder, and the electrode is shiny / intact on each plug. I would say they still have some life left in em…? |
i was quoted a best offer of 30 dollars a plug at my acura dealer after refusing the original quoted 45 bucks each...any suggestions on this thats hella steep.

i see advance has them 20$ each

just did my plugs over the weekend.. 50k on vehicle and the looked like the ones pictured at the top.. even though they are suppose to last 100k miles i think 50k is more on par for when they should probably be changed.. so far i gained .5 miles in my avg commute from changing them out which makes me think they were worse off then they appear.. its always the little things that matter

Quick question - are these plugs pre-gapped to the correct spec for our engine or do we need to adjust? Also....what is the correct spec?
Edit: Ok two questions. |
iridium plugs are pre gapped.
