Used RDX tech prices

I'm in the market for a used RDX with Tech. Ideally a 2008 or 2009 and certified. I'm open to a 2010/2011 but they mostly have FWD versions here in the south.

I think that a fair price for an 08 or 09 should be near 20k but a lot of the asking prices disagree with me. Around here the average asking price is 24-27k for what I want.

It would be fantastic I could get some help from you guys to figure out how to negotiate this. I'd like to know if anyone here bought theirs used, when it was bought, and how much was paid. And what were the dealers by you asking?

The used car market certainly isn't as straightfoward as the new market. I'm wondering if it's even worth it to offer 7k less than asking. These salespeople try to give the impression that asking prices are fairly close to an acceptable selling price. I'd like to know your experiences. Thanks.

I just bought an RDX w/ tech last week in Boston, MA
Average prices were around $30k with 40-50k miles
I got a steal at $24,500 on a trade in at a Honda dealer, its not certified though

$20k would be a steal for a base model around here, with NAV forget about it

2008 w/ tech $23,000-$25,000 (depending on mileage, local inventory and CPO)

2009 w/ tech $25,000-$27,000 (depending on mileage, local inventory and CPO)

The used car market is very tight and the RDX is one of the best used CUVs on the market. Most deals will be made at non-Acura dealerships or private sellers. I purchased my 08 w/ tech RDX April/10 for about $27,500 after hours of fighting with the Acura stealership ($28,990 asking price). It had the color, tech, and interior so I wasn't going to leave without it (RDX are hard to find in NM).

In May I purchased a 2007 RDX tech with 100,000kms for 23500, it has extended warranty. Seemed like a pretty good deal it was exactly what we were looking for and it has been a great vehicle so far.

2009's will start coming off the lease in october. there will be a crap load of them in couple of month. $26k is a bit low though. it is fair price (33% loss on $36k car), but dealers are tough if u want to get certified. when i was looking, most listed 2008 for $25-27k and would not budge. giving me excuses. "Certified" costs dealer $500 for a year (dealer told me). if u get 2009 produced late 2008 (october-december) then u might get the price u want. but u have to negotiate with them.
that is why i wanted late 2008. no point paying extra $2-3k for extra 3 month...

ps: u might have to travel though. it is not a cheap car new, so it was more popular in big city areas. NYC, CT, PA, NJ has lots of them. so look at listing closer to big cities.

ya those cities are out of me reach im on the west coast.. =) but ive seen a few 09s go for around 28K which is about the average hopefully in the next couple months the price will drop alittle.. seen a few 2010 for 32K which is the average here too.. seems like stealerships are all about there CPO's i tell them i can careless about it which is true if something happens to the vehicle outside its normal warranty i would just take care of it myself..

I would reccomend working with two dealers in parallel on a similar car and seeing how far you can get them to come off. I got about $3700 off asking when i bought my cert 08 tech with 22k last October which I was actually surprised by. I have tried to do the same on an MDX for my wife but haven't been able to pull it off. It takes a little luck and good timing but i definitely feel like you need two dealers competing for the business. Unfortunately in Miami if you don't actually go into the dealer they don't take you seriously so I did have to go back and forth a bit.

Make sure you do your homework on financing too if you are going that route.

I'm amazed at how RDX's have held their value - I just traded in my 2008 RDX Tech with 65K miles for $20.5K and I got a good price on my new vehicle.

I bought a certified 2008 RDX Tech from a dealer for $25,500 that had 25,800 miles. The internet special price was $25,900 and I was able to talk them down $400. They also gave me $3K for a POS 2003 Honda Pilot with 200K miles so I was very happy!
