I have a lifetime warranty on tire balance (Discount Tire) and alignment (Firestone). I always like to get that checked out before a big trip for a smooth ride.
Just in case you get a flat:
I had to argue with the "Tire Tech" when I got one flat and the tire was destroyed that I don't need to purchase 4 new tires to match the tread because of the sh-awd. I had to go on-line and show the tech in the manual that if the tread depth does not match, you have to replace at least both tires on the same axel; replacing all four tires is the prefer method. The tech assumed the sh-awd is the same type of awd systems from Subaru, Ford or GM.
I think you can’t tow the RDX with a tow rope or with one axel on the ground dragging one set of wheels (like on a tow truck). I think the RDX needs a dolly under the wheels on the ground or be place on a flat bed because of the sh-awd. Flat bed is the way to go.
Other than owners and Acura service/parts department folks, most auto service people don’t know that much about Acura vehicles.

I drove from Vancouver to Halifax which was about 5000 miles and did all that you did for maintenance without a single problem... except I think my front shocks are done now but oh well, can't avoid every bump on the highway. enjoy your trip!!

My only advice for road trips and the RDX is to use sport mode (paddle shifters) as often as possible on hills to avoid the turbo kicking in instead of the transmission downshifting to save gas and strain on the turbo etc.

You have to place the stick shift into "S" mode to have it hold that gear when you use the paddles. "S" mode is only shifts between gears 1-4. I used this when I was traveling up to the Eisenhower tunnel on I-70 west of Denver. I think the Tunnel is about 11,150ft at its peak. No way to make it up there in 5th gear and I was getting tired of it downshifting every 30 seconds.

Make sure you bring things you won't be able to get in Mexico. I went on my trip and figured if something broke I'd find a Acura dealer some where.

Well the first day we drove 1100 miles with no issues until I stopped together gass and I heard a noise coming from the drivers side rear brake pad. Got to my destination and the next day I took it to a place to have it looked at it was the pad that was making a noise and I figured I might as well get all 4 set replaced . Got rotors turned, new brake pads in all 4 wheels, a car wash for $175.00.
Is the car supposed to have a brake pad wear sensor ?

The only thing a brought along was antifreeze, a quart of oil just in case and a socket set. The brake pads I had to replace and the rotors turned while in Mexico other than that a very good trip and car responded very good. Doing over 100mph on the way back on the toll roads.

The only thing I would recommend doing when taking the RDX on a road trip is to use some duck tape (or whatever) to cover the fog lights if you don't mind the car looking cheap. I just finished a 3k road trip and was left with 2 cracked fog lens

What's the difference between a long road trip, a short road trip and some daily commute/driving? getting a cracked lens can happen at any time...it could be worse, a cracked windshield perhaps?.....if you live in a State that charges you deductible
