To RDX or not to RDX

My mileage (as per the computer) is usually around 20.5 mpg. On a trip to San Antonio last weekend I got closer to 22 (mostly highway--and 70 mph speed limit here TX). That was loaded down with my family and a full hatch.

hi there, i am curious to find out if the rdx is a good "hauler"? by that i mean - good "fit" to put bulk groceries, and the occasional washing machine, hardwood floor planks, etc that we intend to purchase fm time to time? been lurking around this post for a while and people seem to have double opinions is the rdx too "luxury" for these types of things?

The RDX does just fine on my trips to Costco. And while I don't transport washing machines or floor planks, it easily swallows up all of the equipment I need to take to my DJ gigs. I love the fact that the rear seats fold flat and the headrest portion even pops up a bit to protect the backs of the front seats.
If people can take Lexus LX570's and Land Rovers off-road, for cying out loud, I think you can use an Acura to haul stuff...

if you're referring to ample rear space, then yes, the rdx is "cavernous" enough :P for trips to costco and the home depots/appliance stores. HOWEVER, i dont think this is a real "hauler" in the true sense of the word (if you want a real hauler, maybe try the Mercedes GLK variety for a higher end CUV)
is it too luxury as you put it? maybe. if it is too expensive, the honda crv is a great alternative. even the honda fit is a great one too (i just dunno if it fits a washing machine ).

Dude, don't do it. I did the same thing as what you are thinking of doing. I sold the S and gave my TSX to my brother and bought the RDX thinking it will be satisfying. As much as I love the handling on the RDX. It's not the same. It will never be the same. Tossing a 4000lbs gorilla around is just not the same as a 2800lbs super model. Sure the utility aspect of the RDX is nice. You will miss the S2000 dearly when it's not snowing for the 9+ months of the year. If you want utility, sell the TSX and get a Honda FiT or some beater that can take the winter and can carry crap load of stuff without worrying about putting scratches on the nice interior.
If I could do it all over again and had enough money for insurance I would have still gotten the RDX but definitely kept the WRX!
Also the excuse of the WRX sports wagon was not working with the wife anymore LOL.. That's why I got the RDX it was the best transition for me.
