Options for an engine replacement RDX, please.

My 08 rdx has a blown engine.
Dealer gave me two options, used or new engine. Both options are very expensive.
I am in the southwest, does anyone recommend a garage or where to look for a used engine.
Thanks.

Overheated, coolant drained out, there was a bad connection from the radiator. It hadn't been driven for a few months.

instead of putting in a new engine, you can have a machine shop machine the heads and get the car back in working order without buying a new engine.

you could also pull an engine from a junk yard.

Thank you. I will start looking into that asap. The engine they offered had 69k miles on it my engine had 23K
Truth is I am still trying to come to terms with the loss.

My local Acura dealer was replacing an RDX engine, when I was there last spring - similar problem - hole in the radiator, overheated engine. So yes, the dealer was replacing the original engine w/ a used engine.

The used engine, which I saw, had been shipped from (?), well not sure really, but the Acura dealer had some arrangement with the shipper, probably a wrecking yard. The Acura dealer/ shipper was offering some sort of warranty, which you will want to know concerning any used engine which you have installed.

So it was a complete replacement engine, minus the turbo. I was told the cost, but do not remember what it was. I have no recommendation regarding whether you should have a dealer, or a trusted independent shop, do the engine install, or where you should get a used engine.

I am just reporting that my local Acura dealer was willing to do this type of job, acquire the replacement used engine, and offer some sort of warranty. At least the driver could be reasonably certain that the dealer mechanic was familiar with the vehicle, engine, and accessories for the installation.

Asked the dealer about the possibility of repairing the engine, he said it was way too damaged to be repaired.
I found sites where they sell engines some with low miles and under 3K, I am guessing labor is expensive for that kind of job.
Thanks

I also think I will feel more comfortable with the dealer installing the engine and getting the warranty from them.
Two dealers have offered me the used engine option, one year warranty on labor and warranty from the engine seller.
Difference in price for similar engine 2K.
Difference in price for a new engine from Acura 3K.
New sounds better to me for $8,500.

Also read about remanufactured engines. Is this a good choice? Has anyone had one installed?
