mcgard wheel lock nuts? is it compatible with our RDX OEM wheels?
hi guys, any of you use mcgard wheel lock nuts? (i opted out of wheel locks fm the stealership - thought they would give me one but gave me none - oh well... at least i saved $85
i called up mcgard and they said the mcgard ones wont "seat" well with the original wheels of honda/acura. in fact, in their website, under a footnote it also said: "for aftermarket wheels only, for OEM wheels see dealer"... has anybody used mcgard and have it not "seat" well/properly? [i can still return mine as i just got it last weekend] - or is mcgard just stating that as they have a deal with honda/acura?

hi guys, i saw a few views but no replies... i did manage to get an answer when i contacted another person... as i want to keep my oem wheels, here's what they adviced -- get gorilla lock nuts...
"Honda uses a ball seat lug nut, so the regular Mcgard cone seat lug nut won't match. Gorilla makes a ball seat lug nut:

I came across this issue with my 06 RL. RL uses flat seat with washer, which is not compatible with aftermarket wheels which are typically a 60 degree cone style seat. Newer Acura models, including the 09 + MMC RL seem to have shifted over to the Honda spherical (ball) seat from the flat seat with washer.
As I understand it, McGard makes the locks for Acura and Honda, but McGard itself does not sell any ball seat or flat seat with washer locks, which is why the say to see the dealer.
The best deals would appear to be Acura locks from Acura dealers on e-bay. That is how I got mine. However, you have to be aware of what you are getting, because the first time the dealer sent me locks for the PAX wheels, which are Honda ball seats, and not flat seat with washer.
If you get Gorillas, be very sure of the application. Gorilla actually gave me a bad application info on the phone, saying the flat seat with washer for the Honda Ridgeline fit the flat seat with washer for the Acura RL, which it did not. They looked the same in the pictures, but the measurements were different, with the Ridgeline having a longer shank than the RL lug nut.
