Maybe the RDX's brakes don't suck after all

They were good enough to keep me from getting into an accident today. Some idiot making a left out of a gas station into my lane (when traffic was heavy and all of us were going 60 km/h) stopped right in front of me because he was afraid of hitting the cars in the right lane next to me...so instead he decides to give ME the heart attack.

I slammed on the brakes and stopped half a foot short of his rear. Luckily the guy behind me was travelling a safe distance and stopped in time too. The guy just waved at me to say "sorry" and then went about his way.

The RDX's brakes still feel like mush but I'm glad it came through for me in the clutch. I was impressed it was able to stop in time from full speed.

I've had a similar experience and also emerged safe. Unless you are driving in a very spirited manner through/down a mountain pass, I get the impression that the brakes are fine in the RDX. But when it's time to replace my brakes at 60 or 70k, I will probably go larger.

Glad your reflexes (and brakes) were quick enough!

Thumbs up

I had good experience with the brakes myself in a similar situation last week where a guy merged onto the highway without even looking. He just started to slide right over into me and I slammed on the brakes and the horn and came to a nice stop; of course he kept driving like nothing happened and we got off on the same exit where I promptly gave him the 1-finger salute.
