Lexol cleaner and conditioner products - great for RDX leather seats
 

Have been using the products for the leather seats and steering wheel for the past 4 years of owning the RDX. The seats still look very well maintained, no dried out crises or lines. My friends commented that the seats do not look like they have been used for 4 years. I think the most neglected product is the cleaner, the conditioner is essential, but what I found was the Lexol cleaner made the steering wheel look like it was first out of the showroom. Most cars have their leather steering wheel look artificially "shiny" from years of use, sweat, skin oils dirt...etc... But my RDX steering wheel still look matte black after 4 years, and I attribute a lot of it to the Lexol cleaner which helps to remove the sweat and skin oils that cause the leather to "shine" artificially.

Agreed, it's good stuff. The only issue I've noted is that it tends to soak into the foam a bit with the perf seats. This might be the cause of my early seat front deterioration, or might be because I'm too fat.

I usually only apply a small amount of the conditioner, while I do use quite a bit of the cleaner together with a wet cloth, then dry it off immediately with a clean cloth.

Yup the pH stuff works great. Just wet a cloth and apply a good amt of the cleaner, get it soapy, then rub gently on the leather. Then use a clean dry cloth, dry off the soap. The soap is really made of glycerin which is good for the leather. The leather when it looks shiny, it is really due to the skin oils and sweat infused into it. The soap should remove the oils and "dry" it out so to speak, helping it to look its natural matte look.

^This will be my new strategy. I was spraying a stream directly onto a crease that was forming on the front of the seat and I think that made the foam crush prematurely. I should probably get off the laptop and go clean and condition right now...

found this thread while doing a search. do you use both the ph and leather conditioner on the seats or just one?

You first use the pH balanced cleaner, and then treat the leather with the conditioner. A lot of folks will just use the conditioner, and after a while, realize the leather while it seems to wear well, looks shiny. The cleaner helps to remove excess oils and dirt from the leather, that is key to keeping the leather looking like its original factory look. Only apply the conditioner once a month, and just small amts. You can clean the leather with the pH cleaner more often, with no issues.

I just wanted to get a feel of any other recommended leather products everyone uses on their RDX. I've heard good things about Lexol and Zaino. What do people use and how has it been treating you? Thanks!

Nice! I used the leatherique kit on my RDX and was pleased with the results.

I like Lexol. it has the natural leather smell and it really maintains the leather well, even after 5 years, my RDX leather looks almost like factory new.

Do they sell this at local auto parts store?

I bought some Lexol Cleaner and also the Conditioner at Autozone to give it a try. It did take the shine out of the steering wheel and made it much more like a new wheel. I plan to clean it a few more times. It has a nice smell and I'm hoping after a few applications it will make the leather a little nicer. I'm also dealing with what looks like car seat indents in the back seat. It really doesn't look like I'll be able to do anything with them.

Autozone (at least in Dallas area) has both of these products with $2 off discount. Ends up at $7.49 for either one. I just bought both cleaner and conditioner for $7.49 each.

My wife's RDX has the lighter interior and is showing a bit more "dirt" from body oils I suspect. Will get the cleaner on the seats in the morning and let you know how it turns out.
