LCD in Base RDX

Just wondering if the LCD in the base RDX is black and white only.

and what else can we use it for besides showing radio channels/music tracks, time, and other standard stuff ?

Can we use it as a video display with an external DVD player ?

I have the RDX base and I belive it is only Black and White, and for radio and a/c information display only. On the bottom of my screen I can see the icons for the A/C when they are not lit up so I don't belive that it can be used as a display device for external video inputs.

That's what I thought too, but just want to confirm.

Anyway, it is kind of a waste of space with that size of LCD ............

Well it was that or they redo the entire dash for the smaller display. As it is they got rid of the upper one.

Pictures of Non-Tech Dash/Display

Since I had trouble finding pictures of the base model dash/display before going to the dealer, and suspect they might be of interest to others, I've attached a few pictures I took this weekend.

I'm impressed that the display is legible in all lighting conditions, and is still clear when I wear polarized sunglasses. Especially with the ebony interior, I don't mind the while LEDs on black background. It really works better with XM radio on, as it displays song information (one thing I miss from the Audi was the RDS feed on regular FM).

Another thing I noticed missing from the little display under the speedometer on the base is the actual tire pressures from the monitoring system (which appear on the Tech). The base will only alert you if the pressure is too low (but not sure what the cutoff is).

Cheers,
Phil

No, the MID is scaled back...only tells you milage, Trip A/B average fuel economy, oil life.

And the Canadian version doesn't come with XM....
