Keeping the RDX running smoothly and easy start-ups...

I recently ran another bottle of the Chevron Techron Fuel system cleaner plus ($6/bottle @ walmart), and it has certainly been keeping my 2.5 year old RDX running smoothly and starting up easily, especially in this frigid cold weather. I take the train into work daily, and my wife drives the RDX mainly for groceries, town shopping, and me to/fro train station; i.e. lots of city driving. I run a bottle in every 3 months, to ensure the fuel system is relatively "clean". They don't have Chevron gas stations out here in new england, which kind of sucks. Prior to moving out here to Mass., in vancouver, the RDX was exclusively running on Shell V-power or Chevron Premium. But here in Mass., they only have Gulf, Sunoco, Shell and Mobil. I try to use Shell, but they do not have as big a presence as compared to say Mobil.

I remember upon arriving in new england 8 months ago, the RDX was running mostly on mobil and the occasional Gulf or sunoco. And in Oct, the car started running rough in the mornings and acceleration was not as crisp. The airfilter was newly replaced, so can't be due to poor intake air flow. After running the engine through 2 12oz bottles of Techron plus in 2 consecutive tanks of gas, the engine started easily again, and acceleration was back close to where it used to be again.

I have used Regane, STP fuel system cleaner, but the Chevron stuff was best at returning the RDX to running like it was new again. This stuff does work, IMHO.

Mine runs the same as it did on day one - maybe even better after a few thousand K's.

whats funny about mavs IMHO stuff about fuel cleaner, is that on the one hand, hell tell everyone what they FEEL with the K&N filter is a placebo effect & BS, yet on the other hand, as is here, this guy is claiming that he can FEEL "crisp acceleration" after injecting a bottle of fuel cleaner.

but, trust him, techron "works". Really? HOW? TELL ME, HOW DO YOU KNOW? (what you are going to say is how you can feel it, because you know your car, you drive it all the time, you know how it responds, you may "hear" a difference etc etc etc) THUS, if you are gonna post this crap about fuel system cleaner, do not post about placebo effects and air filters. thats all im sayin. and for every 3 months ur using this stuff, it amounts to basically the cost of a life time usable K&N high flow filter that can actually give you quantifiable results in the gas tank, aside from any placebo effect performance the user may feel.

stuff is a waste, once in a while after you rack up some miles who cares, its not like its going to hurt, but every 3 months? really? pointless. but if it makes you feel better about the car, great. cuz in the end, isnt that all this is about?

Snake oil. Period. The only engine maintenance the RDX needs for the first 105,000 miles is regular oil changes.

Not to mention today's gasoline already contains detergents.

I run Chevron fuel so it already has the additive.
