Insurance for RDX
Just curious how much it costs to insure the RDX in different cities. Here's my insurance after shopping around with Geico, Progessive, 21st Century, Farmers and Mercury:
Insurance Company: Mercury
Coverage: full, $100K/50K per accident, including comprehensive, unisured motorist
Car value: $36K
Cost: $406 per 6 months
Area: Orange County, California, USA
Discounts: multi cars, good driver, education
I will switch my home insurance over to Mercury soon to get another 15% discount on the "combo".

That would be a very good deal for my area. I don't think I can get the same here. I wouldn't mind paying an extra $20 for for more coverage and lower deductibles.

I need to get out of New Jersey. I got $1600 per 6 months with Geico for my wife and I on a 2006 TSX. My wife has no points or tickets while I only have 2 points and one ticket. Hearing about $300-$400 per 6 month premiums makes me cry.

When I bought my RdX my insurance went up $ 200. to $ 845. per 6 Months. I was driving a 99 RL b4. So I called my agent, and she got me a rate from another company $ 534.00. $ 600. per year cheaper. That'll by some premium gas!I had the same insurance company for 15 years, and now I know you have to shop them bums or they will rip you off. Thanks guys on this forum for making me look at my rates more carefully!

I thought being married actually lowers your insurance. Turns out a phone call to geico just last night revealed a 12 dollars per 6 month increase. They give you little choice but to cover your wife as well (if your spouse has a valid drivers license) It's not bad considering we'll both be covered under the rx8.
Geico also at the moment does not have the RDX on their database. They have no idea what kind of car it was so the quote I received (850 per six months) is based on the purchase price. I'm sure it'll go down once they find out it's amongst the top 13 safest cars in the US with awd and tons of safety features.
Living in or around a big city sucks. the cost of everything is so god damned high.

IN NJ that is absolutely true, you should probably start to see some discounting after 25 with no tickets. Tickets move you to other "tiers" which are good. Even a 2 point speeding ticket gets you bigger premiums.

When I called my insurance company the difference between my 01 TL and an 07 RDX was only $143 with the same exact coverage: 100/300 with all the same sub options. Didn't sound too bad to me. I thought the turbo engine might really boot it up.
