I need a new car.
I need a new car.
Hello all,
My TSX was totaled recently, so I'm in the market for a new car. I narrowed it down to:
Acura Mdx, they do not have the combo I like, and the wood trim is so ugly, I dont know if I can stand seeing it everyday.
Acura RDX, I love almost everything except for the front of the car it looks a little, hmm I don't know, pointy? Is the 2012 any different?
Audi Q5, I love the looks inside and out, but not sure about reliability, and cost of maintenance. I have alllways owned Acura's, and Honda's.
Cadi SRX, have not gone to see it yet, hubbie wants me to look at it.
What do you like from your RDX, and any problems I should know about?

Roci, The build isn't what it used to be. If you were going to go for a car, consider an Acura mDX, or the new TL. I like the new TSX due to saving gas(it's got POWER).
But since owning a RDX, it find the exterior quality has faded alot. Consider an BMW.

Have you looked at the ZDX? You would have about the same if not more back seat room and double the trunk space compared to the TSX. The pointy style seems to work on the ZDX compared to the other Acura brands. The interior of the ZDX looks better than anything else in the Acura line-up. If it was just the wifey and I; I would have traded my TSX for the ZDX a while ago (Dark cherry pearl with taupe interior).
If you need the Utility part compared to the Sport in SUV; the RDX, Q5, MDX, etc... would be a better choice.

- MDX: would be the first one I would consider, however, I feel that it's a couple of steps behind the competition in terms of power, number of gears, and the way the interior is filled with buttons. I think that it would be the wise choice in terms of reliability though.
- RDX: I own a 2007, bought it used with 8K miles. I have not had a single issue with it. I believe that the only part replaced (under warranty) was the battery. I am currently at 55K miles
- Q5: I love that car. I think that maintenance would be on par with the RDX (synthetic oil). I do not know about reliability either, but I know that my friend bought a brand new one (Q5) and it left him stranded in PA because the water pump broke? or some other notorious issue with the 3.2 engine.
- SRX: If you can get over the fact that it's a GM product and that there will be some cheap cheap materials in some parts of the car, I'd say give it a try. I loved the interior and the way it felt. I have not driven it but it seems to perform very well according to the magazines.
I know how I am supposed to be treated at an Acura dealer, I don't know how it is for Caddy since they share the floor with other brands.
