High Mileage RDX

I'm looking at some RDX's, but I can't find AWD + Tech in my state without it being 2011-2012 in the 24k+ range. I'm in the 10k-18k range at the moment.

I was mainly looking for 09-10, but most of them are Tech with no AWD. I really want the combo more then the other features that the newer years offer (if any).

Is 130k A LOT for a RDX? Should I treat that as a high mileage... 'caution' car or treat it just like I'd treat any Honda/Acura in the terms of reliability (300k miles easily mindset).

Reason why I would think there is a difference is because of the turbo.

I'm looking at two 2007s.

1) AWD-TECH 130k miles
2) AWD-TECH 90k miles

1 cost $12000, while the other cost $15000.

Is the difference of miles (assuming everything else is the same condition) worth the extra 40k miles on a Turbo Acura engine?

I've waited for 6 months and I can't find anything near the price with the package. I did find a AWD-Tech 2009 60k miles for 18k but that sold quick.

I have an '07 with 104k miles and it runs like the day I bought it. In the past ~5 years of my ownership, I've only had to follow scheduled maintenance and replace the starter recently. As long as the higher mileage one was maintained properly, you should be fine!

Wow. Sounds good.

Is there anything you wish yours had then say at 2009/2010?

Also, it is the same with most Acuras that the Timing Belt/Pump has to be replaced at 105k? Don't think the RDX has a chain tbelt.

I think the '08+ had memory seats as well as a power passenger seat, which is something I wish mine had. I believe the '08+ has a softer ride, but honestly I love the way mine drives/handles.

The RDX has a timing chain. I believe mine is due for drive belts/water pump next.. I just follow the MID though

The 07-09 all had the same body style and sh-awd. The +10 models have the updated body style and the option of fwd or sh-awd.

I picked a used 08 tech 3 years ago (with 28,000 miles) because at the time Hondata only worked for the 07-08 models. Another plus was the Moroccan Red Pearl was only offered in the 07-08 model years. I do all scheduled maint and the only out of pocket problems I had (that wasn't covered under the basic or powertrain warranties) was a brake booster sensor replacement for about $280 and a battery (now have +88,000 miles). Damn good sporty CUV!

Compared to other vehicles from Acura and being a totally new model in 07; the RDX, in my opinion, has had the least number of issues compared to the rest of the Acura line-up. I would still invest in something like Carfax to check out the ownership trail of any used vehicle. It will not tell you the whole story; but, it can give you an idea. I would be a little concern of a RDX if it had 4 owners in 6 years. I rather have a single owner 07 RDX with 100,000 miles compared to 07 RDX with 3 owners with 75,000 miles.

Our '08 RDX has been reliable during the course of ownership. The only thing I ever needed done was to replace the steering rack due to a leak at 48K mi. On my second battery and still haven't changed the brake pads. I currently turned 60k miles a few weeks ago.

Checked CarFax and the car was used for "Corporate" use for 15k miles. After that it was sold to the 'second owner'. The second owner had it maintained at a Lube Shop every 6k miles for the 80k miles he used it for. It was then sold/traded in which is when a dealer purchased it and is selling it now.

Looks like it may have been a courtesy car at the dealership for the first 15k miles? Another problem to look out for on the '07 is that the center console/door panel armrests tend to bubble up and tear

That one has been on the lot for almost two months. They might be getting sick of looking at it and give you a great deal. Lowball them and see what happens.

been in the same boat for over a year.. still cant find one that calls to me.. i think the hardest thing i came across is the fact people think its an suv so its ok for it to get scratched or dented on and then trade it straight in after it.. i dont mind a few rock chips but some of the things i come across look abused to hell.. i do have to add i have zero'd down on only particular colors of white, silver or grey. they must have black interior with awd tech.. so that makes it even harder.. add decent mileage on it and only an 09 or 10 and there is practically nothing haha its like a needle in a hay stack

Yep, I've really beat the shit out of the RDX. Funny, I had good intentions, but I think it may be partly due to the fact that I don't have a truck, like you. I've hauled WAY more than the capacity of the little beast, inside and on top. However, getting those yard cover/bark chips out of the interior has really been a bitch.

Decided to wait and just get a newer RDX with AWD/Tech.

I found a great deal online for a 2011 RDX Tech/AWD with 14k miles for 21500.

Too bad it is out of my budget range/hope it is still there when I get the dough!

I would be very skeptical of that deal.

Was clean and clear -- knew of a friend that was interested and they bought it in NY.

So far he's happy. He brought it too an Acura dealership and says it is in top-notch condition. Wish I had the money.

I would be especially skeptical of any vehicles way below book value coming out of the NY area. I'm guessing that there are quite a few with undocumented flood damage from the hurricane.

If it truly doesn't have any hidden issues, it was an absolute steal. $10K+ below book value is insane.

My friend has an 08 and the center armrest still bubbled up and tear. It's not the model/year but rather the cheap quality and the exposure to hot sun that causes the issue.

21k on that 2011 Tech is very sketchy. I have dealt with numerous dealerships here in NYC/Brooklyn and none of them would give you a deal like that. There is something they are not disclosing, for your friend's sake, I hope it is not Sandy.

This is not a risky car to buy with high mileage, I have spoken with a couple of honda / acura techs, and all have a great report.

The engine runs clean if you use synthetic, & trans is the stronger of all the automatics made by honda.

Want some good insurance, just keep ALL your fluids fresh. Immediately when I bought my 08 RDX w/45k I did an oil change / rear-end oil flush / Transmission fluid change. I also replaced my spark plugs. (even tho it was certified - I dont trust that they did this already)

You can do all of this yourself with just a few tools. This will ensure the long life of your RDX.

My 2008 had this issue, Acura replaced this during its used-car certification process.

10 or so months later my new armrest is bubbling again. Im thinking about going to an upholstery shop and getting it reupholstered with black sued.

I replaced mine with an armrest with the part number from the 2010 and its been fine for the last 3 years. Same thing with the door panel armrests

I am looking at purchasing an 2008 RDX AWD w/ Tech PKG with 133,386 Miles. How do these cars run with High Mileage? It looks like it was taken care of from the carfax. I just want to find out from you guys have you had any kind of issues with your RDX after 120000 Miles?

Mine only has 47k so I can't comment on your question. But, when I was hunting for an 08-09 a few months back, I was surprised by the number of high mileage RDXs out there that still looked good. By high mileage I mean 150-180k. It's looking like these turbo RDXs are very durable.

I recently purchased an '09 with just over 140k.

It looks and runs like new.

It came with complete service records, and an AC recharge was the only non-scheduled service that's been done.

^^I've noticed a lot of repeat problems here. Our RDX has had the steering rack replaced, A/C replaced and has bubbling armrests (and center console armrest is losing its padding), also SRS wiring replaced twice (different problems each time) first under warranty, second not (VERY costly, over $1000), differential seals were replaced, rear armrest came loose, front DRL and rear stoplight went out, rear folding seat latch broke and wouldn't unlatch... That's all I've got for now. Looks like we got unlucky!! Love the RDX very much, and every report/everyone else I've talked to says it's very reliable, but just not ours! By the way, it has 126,000 miles.

Yes.. that is ALOT of repairs for an Acura.

Mine has 101K and has had nothing but oil, gas, and brakes. (knocking on solid wood surface)

I have heard about the leaky rack and the bubbling interior bits.. but never all you have gone thought.. good luck!

Edit: The turbo also squeals a lot when accelerating. On top of all this, we've shattered one wheel, bent some control arms and broke the hub in a small collision with a curb last year.

I did have the center armrest start to bubble on mine, but I had a car upholstery shop replace the top with color-matched leather for $100. Now it's softer and will last as long as the car.

I now have 185K on my 2007 - RUNS GREAT - Im going for 300K. Center console arm rest does have a tear, but hah thats minor. I haven't had amy major problems, our dealer in Lancaster has a great service dept. Service mgr says 300K will be no problem. It literally runs good as new.

Yeah, I recently looked at one that originated in NY and it looked like it was in great condition. Then I popped the hood and it looked like it had been under sea for three years. I grew up in Chicago and remember the corrosion from the winter salt trucks but nothing like this!

Haha you're right, took it too far. 2 days ago got a message saying "Brake System P15BA, Brake pedal may be harder to press as you apply the brakes." Was the RDX mad at me for sharing all of its issues?

It's a great car. Our RDX is the only one I've ever heard of with so many problems, and reliability data represents that. If you're looking for a high mileage RDX, go for it, statistics are better than personal experience anyway. You won't be disappointed
