"Guess the Next RDX Incentive" Game

Okay, so the financing deal expired yesterday, congrats to you guys who grabbed it and ran. Meanwhile, the rest of us who have yet to buy our RDXs are left out in the cold. Or are we? Will Acura get us off the dime with another incentive? What will that be? Another APR deal? Dealer cash? Free RL with every purchase? Posit your theories here. I, for one, am interested to hear them.

I'd also be interested to hear what December sales were if anyone has that info.

RDX Tech Pkg:
48 mth leasing: 7.4%
36 mth leasing: 6.4%

36 / 48 mth finance: 5.8%
60 mth finance: 6.4%

No change since mid-Nov.

Things are marginally better for the non-tech...

Guess the RDX is moving well up here.

yup. squat. and deviation from MSRP is still I think 1k or so max, while destination charges are more than double, and the MSRP is calculated on a very bad exchange rate.

I would guess it has to do with supply and demand - there are relatively a lot fewer RDXs Honda has made available in Canada - wait times to pick up RDXs seem to be at least a few weeks and sometimes a month.

Acura rarely ever does cash incentives. I'd guess the only thing to hope for is continued financing specials, but probably not till the end of qtr 1.

It just got BETTER!!!!!!!

Guess what -- the new financing incentive is even BETTER. I am glad I waited, as this make a big difference:

2.9% APR financing for 24-36 months and 3.9% APR financing for 37-60 months, available until 2/5/07.

Previously, it was 3.9% and 4.9%, respectively. So the rates dropped a whole point, which is HUGE. I am glad I didn't pull the trigger on a deal last week -- I came close several times. The new rates will save me over $800 in interest over the life of the loan.

And now I have another month to haggle a deal, which is nice too....

Economics wise, incentives are another word for subsidies. They directly affect a car's resale value. Ever wonder why Saturn had such great resale statistics for so long? Because for their first 10 years they gave no incentives and only sold at sticker.

Traditionally, the most aggressive incentives come at the end of year for the prior model year, as companies desire to rid inventories of depreciating prior year cars. They have to dance a tight rope. They want to sell current model year cars but not at the expense of their prior model year, so usually incentives on current model year are rather subdued. Those historically tend to kick in towards the end of the first quarter when manufacturers have sufficient data to see if their new models are bulls or bears.

Indeed, incentives at all imply that sales targets have not been met. Notice that Toyota had no incentives on the FJ Cruiser which at least here in Dallas is selling at $500 to $1000 over sticker.

Ok... sorry.... turned into a windbag for a second..... onto the game.

I predict that the next incentive will be a repeat of what Acura just did, a moderate rate subsidy.

Considering I got my RDX 3 weeks ago...

Then again, if I had a crystal ball, I wouldn't have to worry about saving a few hundred $$$.

This may be regional to the New England area, but 2.9% financing for 24-36 months or 3.9% 37-60 months. In our area runs through the end of January.

If I can knock another $800 off my loan, that's a big deal -- makes the vehicle itself effectively cheaper by $800 to me, which is nothing to sneeze at.

I don't think it's regional -- the deal I posted up above was on Acura's website for the whole US, and runs through 2/5/07.

Yeah it's nationwide like hunter said, don't know about canada..... Out of curiousity, anyone know what "AHFC Super Preferred credit tier" is? the last offer I think was credit score above 710.

Acura's website says:
Special AHFC A.P.R. financing available on all new 2007 RDX models. 2.9% APR financing for 24-36 months and 3.9% APR financing for 37-60 months available to customers who qualify for the AHFC Super Preferred credit tier. Example for 2007 RDX: 2.9% for 36 months financing at $29.04 a month for every $1,000.00 financed. Dealers set actual vehicle sales prices. See participating dealers for details. For well qualified buyers. Not all buyers may qualify. Higher rates apply for buyers with lower credit ratings.

Offer valid for through 2/5/2007, on new and unregistered 2007 Models and only on approved credit by Honda Financial Services through participating dealers. Honda Financial Services' standard credit criteria apply. Example for 2007 RDX: 2.9% for 36 months financing at $29.04 a month for every $1,000.00 financed. See dealer for details. Dealers set actual prices. Limited time only.
