Acura almost always seems to pick a rare tire size... there will be more, but never a ton of choices, probably, unless you go with a different size.

Indeed, as a 2002 TL-S owner, you should be used to this already......

tire rack has 12 performance tires that range from $70 - $170 for the TL. I expected more than one or two tires to be available for the RDX.

I need one tire for my TSX O6 I got a really bad puncture on Sunday, I had to buy a used tire but I really like the OEM Michelin, one they are hard to get and they are about 250 bux each!

the oem tires tend to suck. at least they did on my tl, which i believe were pilots. This is compared to contis. plus, they cost $70 more each than my conti's

I missed this thread earlier and just wanted to add my two cents about the OEM tires that Acura has chosen for the RDX. In a word - CRAP. The same Michelins were OEM on my RL and upgrading to another tire made a huge difference in decreased road noise, increased driving comfort and improved handling. I chose the Pirelli PZeroNero M&S for my RL, but others found similar results with other tires.
For this reason, I plan to immediately dispose of the OEM tires on the RDX that I am buying for my wife. I'll likely buy some optional 19inch wheels, mount all-season tires on them and then put snow tires on the OEM 18 inch wheels. Icenoir was sure right in saying that our choices are limited for replacement tires - both for the 18's and the 19's. Right now I am leaning toward the Yokohama Advan S.4. tires for the 19's (I believe the size of tire for the 19's will be 245/45/19). Winter tires for the 18's appear to be very limited, but I think that you can get Blizzak WS-50 Winterbiter's in the 235/55/18 size, although I prefer a narrower winter tire and may opt for the Continental ContiWinterContact TS 790 in the 225/60/18 size.
I highly recommend upgrading the tires of your new RDX's when you get them, but a word of warning, doing so is an expensive undertaking because of the limited options in tires. Such is the world of owning "luxury" cars.

I'm sure there will be more out as the demand for that size comes along. We are still 1 month away from the RDX release so I hope nobody needs tires yet!

And on top of that, while the OEM size is recommended, you can always go with a slightly different tire size if you can't find one in the OEM size. Just make sure you understand how the tires' overall height will affect your various instruments.
