Question Dealer cost of accessories

I've seen a lot of posts from people that are using the dealer invoice to get a good price on the RDX, but wondered if anyone had any insight on the dealer cost for accessories?

This might be handy when negotiating "throw-in" items, I would think. I'm still in shopping mode at this point.

Also was wondering what people thought of the cargo tray? I think I would prefer something that covered more (or all) of the cargo area (like with Infiniti's FX). Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket solution? The Acura tray doesn't look like it would provide enough protection from mulch bags or dirty strollers (as an example). I could be wrong though...?

Don't know about dealer cost, but you can get genuine Acura accessories at big discounts on EBay. Most of the sellers are Acura dealers, so I suppose you could negotiate the same prices from your local dealer.

The cargo tray is good for very muddy, but not too big items like ski boots. For larger items, you should get the cargo liner instead. That covers the entire rear area, including the backs of the seats, the side walls, and the rear door.

Curry Acura (www.curryacuraparts.com) has the cheapest that I've seen so far. They also have an eBay store. I would totally buy from them myself but it's way too expensive to ship across the border (customs fee, provincial tax, AND UPS fees).

Thanks for the tips - I somehow missed that there was a cargo LINER available (not just a cargo tray)...I will be angling for one if/when I buy my RDX.

Looks like it folds over to protect the bumper which ought to help keep strollers and luggage from messing up the bumper.

There does seem to be quite a bit on eBay - interesting.

Canadian Parts From The US

I ordered Several parts from an Acura dealer in the states and will let you know what my total was after I get them. I solicited 3 quotes from differnt dealers from the States through ebay and went with one that was by far the cheapest. The parts have been sent Fedex and should recieve them this friday. The cost to buy the parts from the dealer was 1/3 of the cost of the parts in Canada shipping included. I wil wait to see what duties will be. The RDX is made in the States so the duty for a product made in the States should be 0. If the parts are made in Japan and then shipped to the states I may be in trouble. I ordered a front spoiler, body side mouldings, leather shifter cover and a hood deflector. I will let you know.

Can anyone tell me what the cargo liner is made of?

I think it is some kind of strong nylon or similar fabric. It not hard as the cargo tray material. I am picking one up next thursday with my 2008 RDX so can let you know then.

I think it is a coated polyester fabric, like what tarps and some tents are made from. It is thin enough to fold up easily when you want to remove it, but thick enough to be fairly sturdy. It is definitely not as sturdy as the cargo tray, but it does cover a larger area. If you want, you can put the cargo tray underneath or on top of the liner.
