Best bang for back mods for 1st gen rdx
Hello everyone I recently just bought a red 2012 rdx with 120k miles. From what I can tell so far it has a cpe intake. Any mods that are well worth the money spent ??. Also some winter tips would be nice as where I live it gets to about -40 in the winters
Thanks everyone

Nice description, some pictures might come in handy...
Which area are you in?
"Maintenance"
is it up to date? Major service due ~100k miles, was it done? What was done?
Also suggest replacing all fluids with new, cheap insurance.
A) check battery voltage and grounds
B) add a plug-in block heater for those days you encounter
C) maybe replace radiator cap and thermostat, temperature sensor at bottom of radiator
D) add a shield to the front of radiator, maybe 1/2 the frontal area
E) check heat and ac to operate properly without unusual noises
F) verify radiator fan activation and record coolant temperature at activation moment with an OBD2 wireless device. Post it here when you do.
*when you replace the radiator coolant, can do the math and bring it up to 65% coolant concentration from 50% premixed. Honda has the concentrated one as a separate order item, not premixed.
search and read on cases of radiator failures dumping the transmission oil and/or mixing coolant into it, then examine the elbow connectors for any traces of rust initiated by the steel washer; use a smartphone for difficult angles. Any visible traces of rust, consider replacing the original radiator, preventive maintenance saves money in the long run.
set of winter tires seems to be critical to you, maybe even studded if you are in a rural area.
switch the dashboard display to temperature if/when you have to do idling/ stop&go for extended periods (ie. more than 10' without driving above 50km/h): normal is 7 lcd bars, stop right away if any more.
Got a base with 208k km more than 3 years ago. In the Toronto area, got it down to ~-35c with the windchill factor, without any problem, runs like a tank on 16" rims and winter tires
Hope this helps!
