B1 Maintenance relatively quickly?
2011 Rdx Sh-AWD
The rdx had an oil change at approximately 28 000 Km, and now a 32 2XX Km it is requesting a B1 Maintenance. Oil life is at 15%
Is this normal, or did the dealer forget to reset the maintenance minder when they did the last oil change? I also understand the B1 is to check other things as well (tie rods, fluids, etc), but isn't that relatively quick for an oil change? Also what is the recommended mileage interval to change the oil (disregarding the i-mid).
I'll be bringing it in anyways to get it all checked out, just wondering if its normal. Thanks in advance.

First off was this done at an Acura Dealer?
How hard have you been driving the car?
Are you positive that they used synthetic oil? (I'm not completely sure about the full effects of this but it could be a contributing factor)

I don't know how smart the M.I.D. is, maybe it decided to combine the "B" inspections with the oil change because they were close enough? The "B" inspections seem to be set by mileage only:
- Service front and rear brakes
- Inspect parking brake adjustments
- Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots
- Inspect suspension components
- Inspect driveshaft boots
- Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS)
- Rotate tires , inspect for wear and adjust pressure
- Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids and check for leaks
- Inspect exhaust system
- Inspect fuel lines and connections
The RDX will not let your forget if you are near or over maint. It will show you negative mileage on the M.I.D. if you go over scheduled maint. I did this one time on vacation and I was -500 miles over a schedule oil change when I got back home. I now check my oil schedule before vacations and I will change it early if it is under 25%. I think the oil change interval is determine your driving conditions or mileage; but, not to exceed 4,500-5,000 miles. I usually purchase my own Mobil 1 5w-30 syn oil at Walmart for about $22 for Acura to change. I think the dealership can charge $30-$65 for the same oil.

I made a mistake, Oil was changed at 27000 Km. The RDX is not driven hard at all (daily driver by family member). Occasionally it will do some moderately-fast acceleration, but nothing even causing it to break a sweat. Mostly city though
The oil change was done at an Acura dealer. 32-27 is about 5000 Kilometers, which is about 3.1k Miles. It's a bit off from the 4000-5000 miles, but it doesn't seem too far.
I'm going to think the i-mid just wanted me to do the B1. I'm guessing the Turbo requires more maintenance, but its worth it in the end.
Thanks for the help.

I think short trips, low speeds, and an engine that doesn't spend a lot time in the normal operating range can fall into the "harsh conditions" range and it requires a shorter interval for oil changes.

For my own RDX, the following is normal, varying somewhat whether the air temps are 10 degrees or 100+ degrees. In other words, depends upon whether the engine reaches normal temp during a *trip*. Short trips under 5 miles have a very short MID interval, especially when the temps are under 30 degrees.
90% city = 3K MID intervals, depending upon typical trip mileage
90% highway = 6-8K MID intervals

My last oil change fell under that highway mileage grouping, I went over 8000 miles before it started chiming at me, then the car just became a nagging bitch.
