Anyone here rotate their own tires?

I'd like to know whether or not the RDX's TPMS requires any special procedure when rotating tires?

I talked to the tech when I got my 1st service done and he said nothing special is required when rotating the tires. I've since done my own with no issues.

I do it everytime I get the oil change the service guy usually does it without charging me. Round 6,000 miles.

My service station charges $2/tire which imho is very reasonable. However, I've seen some places charge up to $7/tire when the vehicle has a TPMS (an example in point, Walmart's Tire & Lube Express charges $1.50/tire but $6.50/tire for cars with a TPMS)!!!

I rotate mine myself, with no problems. I do it every 5k miles, in part because it gives me a chance to really clean the brake dust off the back of the rims, and apply a coat of wax. I really had to work to get the stains from the brake dust out, the first time.

And the TPMS system really does work. I ran an errand the morning before Ike came inland, and noted the "low tire" light. My left rear tire had a small nail, and had lost 7 lbs overnight. I was glad that I caught it and got the flat repaired, before I damaged the tire, or before I blew out a tire if I'd had to evacuate that afternoon.

When that happens, does the RDX's TPMS indicate which tire is low, or just that one of the tires is low (and you have to check them to find out which one it is)?

It will tell you which tire it is.

Is there a hard point on each side to use a hydraulic jack so you can rotate front to rear, or do you put the vehicle on four jack stands?

In that case, what do I have to do when rotating the tires to 'not confuse' the TPMS? In other words say I rotate the rt front to the rt rear, won't the TPMS still think that tire is the rt front?

The TPMS sensor at the tire's valvestem is not that "intelligent". It sends a generic signal to the sensor located in the splashguard of each fender. Say you have a low tire on the right rear that sets off your TPMS warning, fill the tire up and the warning goes away. Now rotate that tire to the opposite corner (or any other location on the car), when it goes low again the TPMS warning will indicate a low tire on the left front since that's the valvestem sending the low tire signal to the receiving sensor at the left front splashguard. The vehicle's computer pulls its data from the splashguard sensor that's receiving the low tire signal thus telling you which tire is low no matter where it is located on the car.

Hope that made sense. Seemed easy to explain until I tried to put it in words.
