Aftermarket wheels for first gen rdx

Would it be possible to put 20x8.5" wheels on a 2007 rdx or is that way too much? If it is does anybody have a suggestion???

20x8.5 is fine with an offset around +40. I plan on running 20x10's on my car soon

Hey Rohit,

I just put on my 20x10 Vossen Cv3 last sat that I talked on IG with you about. I ended up going with 275/40/20.

I will post some pics soon.

20 X 10 is a really heavy wheel. The rotational mass on that thing alone will cost you acceleration and stopping time.
Make sure you know what it is you wish to acheive from adding an aftermarket wheel to your rig.
If all you are concerned about is looks, fly right at it.
If you think these wheels will make the car handle better.....

I thought 10 would be too wide, i do care about the looks but at the same time my goal is to make a true sleeper. I wouldnt even care about the wheels but i thought that it wouldnt look right to lower it and keep the 18's.

As far as weight goes, the wheel i'm looking at weighs 27 lbs, which is the same as the OEM wheel IIRC

You fail to take into consideration the location of the weight (far out on the axis) not to mention the weight of the extra rubber. Seriously, the rig WILL be slower.

A narrower, lighter wheel and tire set-up will consistantly run faster. In the past, the reason why people would buy an aftermarket wheel was strickly for speed and performance.
The slang "Mag Wheels" is derived from the term "Magnesium Wheel" which was a ligthweight alternative to steel wheels and manufactured using the alkaline earth metal which was blended with aluminum in the 1960's to produce a racing die-cast wheel that was just as strong but much lighter.

Today, unless you are in the field of racing, the market is geared towards looks. And, there is nothing wrong woth having a great looking wheel on your ride. Hell, I think a 20X10 wheel would look hot on the RDX.

I'm simply pointing out the facts and reminding folks that weight plays a role in performance and that is why I run a light 19X8.5. It's not even close to flush, which would look better.

i run TSW Interlagos 20" x 8.5" et 20 and it's hella flush with the fenders. The wheels weigh in at 21.25 lbs compared to the stock of 26 lbs. Pretty impressive considering it's 2" bigger in dia. and 1" wider than stock. I also wanted a 20" x 10" wheel but i wanted my total weight of wheels and tires to be lighter than stock so i went with the 8.5" wide wheels. I'm still on the fence about the purchase.. it looks good from an angle (because its hella flush) but from the back, it's still kinda too skinny.. but i live in an area where the roads are extremely rough so i went with performance over looks.

i will post pictures of it when i get around to it.

At this point, would someone please just move this thread to the "Tires, Wheels & Suspension" section? (where it should have been started in the first place)

That was at the Ertefa meet last Thurs.

It happens every Thurs at Weston rd and Hwy 7 from 9:30 to 12 in the California Sandwiches parking lot.

I am going to go tonight as well but might be there in the Datsun instead of the RDX.

10.5 might be a little harder to fit. It would depend on the offset.

What offset on the CV3s? I was looking at the same wheel (or CV4) in all black in a 20x10 +38.

they look good!. im looking to buy a set of wheels with same specs but ive heard the rear might be to close to suspension and rub, do you experience anything like this?..and do you have side pictures so i can see how flush it is? the fronts seem like they stick out more than the rear or is it just me?

I ride 275/40/20 (20 inches) and the ride is really not that bad! Pretty impressive!

The side wall is not that small
