Advice on Dealer Negotiating
Hi everyone. After reading around the RDX forum I went to see one at the local dealership (liked what I saw) and was curious as to what everyone thinks is a "reasonable" offer at the dealership these days given the state of the economy, auto sales for this model, etc.
Just for discussion sakes, if a dealer wants 25k for an 07 Tech CPO with 30k miles, is dropping 2k or asking 25k OTD being unrealistic? Is there some sort of rule-of-thumb to start from? I realize prices will be all over the place depending where (and when) you go and ultimately it's how badly they want to sell; I'm looking more to see how people approach the whole negotiating part of the deal. What worked or didn't work? Things you learned? Tips? Anything that may be helpful to a person not experienced in dealing with salespeople. I appreciate any advice or opinions anyone is willing to share.

Get your financing together before you step foot on a lot. That gives you a lot of bargaining power. Don't disclose how much you are approved for. Then work out a deal.
I like to go outside a couple of times during the deal while the sales manager and salesperson talk and make phone calls to other dealerships. Its about research and having a back up plan in case the deal is not in your favor.
Good luck.

Check my other thread. I offered 28 on an 09 Base my dealer had listed for 30 and the sales manager basically laughed at me. And I had pen in hand, ready to sign and my financing was approved.
