Acura care experience...not so bad, but beware...

The RDX would not start today. The combination of the cold temperatures and what I believe is a "too small for the car" battery that has been drained a couple of times would not allowed it to crank.
I decided to try AcuraCare for the first time. They sent someone in record time (about 20 minutes from the time I called the car was running), and the guy was very professional.

I discovered that you will get towing to the nearest Acura dealership, regardless of the distance, or 50 additional miles from there to another dealership.

However, jump starting is only covered up to $100. If the service provider charges more than that you have to pay out of pocket. I don't know who would charge more than that, but if the rule was made is for a reason...I didn't really like that part, AAA just sends someone to jump start the car without any disclaimers.

Well, AAA uses contractors most of the time...I would assume that this is a local guy that works for whoever calls him...

Well, I had never used AcuraCare and in the past, when I used AAA I would get a towing truck that worked for AAA, only once I got an actual AAA vehicle that came to jump start my other car...

The OEM battery is only 440 cold cranking amps. The manufacturers are scraping for every last drop of fuel economy and it takes less gasoline energy to charge a smaller battery over it's service life.

When I had to jump mine after just 30 minutes of stereo use in the garage, I had enough -- didn't want it dying somewhere on the road.

I replaced it with a Wal-Mart Ever Start Maxx with 640 CCA and a 3 year warranty. The group size is 35. The Ever Start Maxx size is 35N. The "N" stands for "North" as in cold climate (though I've never seen the 35S). Wal-Mart uses Exide batteries, which are rated highly and there's always a Wal-Mart open if it dies somewhere.

Whatever battery you buy, look for the build date and get a fresh one.

As it turns out the battery died the next day, again...this time I had the car towed to the dealer and they replaced the battery under warranty....I didn't realize what a huge difference a fresh battery makes during cold starts...

Now that its below freezing I have noticed the slow cranking of the RDX upon starting. It's annoying. Experienced same last winter. Sometimes it wouldn't even start on the first crank. OEM battery sucks and is too weak for the RDX.
