About to purchase an RDX, help me choose!
Hey everyone, coming from a honda family here, with an 06 civic EX coupe, and an 04 S2000. My fiance just got rid of her mazda 3, and we're unloading the civic as well and looking to purchase an RDX.
there are 2 potential ones that we are looking at, and they HAVE to be white. yes i know the issues with the bumpers (kinda the same deal with the suzuka blue on my s2k).
1)07 Base, 85,000km (not miles), listed at $20,500cdn.
we did check this one out, and its pretty clean inside and out. It has 3M all over the front already, as well as new winter tires mounted on the stock rims (allowing us some room to play with for rims especially at the price)
At the price of this vehicle, we don't have to sell the civic right away to get into it. we could purchase this vehicle (private sale no tax), and just keep the civic listed and sell it whenever it sells. From the sale of the mazda + potential sale of the civic, we wouldn't be owing anything on the RDX.
It does need a new windshield, we would want a 2nd key cut (owner lost spare set), and probably would need the HVAC "groaning" noise fixed with a nice greasing. These are all some bargaining chips against the asking price.
2)09 base, 64,000km, dealer listed at a hyundai at $28,000cdn. They were willing to drop it down to 27,500+500 dealer fees + tax. The only reason this was somewhat enticing was that they were willing to give me a good value on trade for the civic, well above black book. However, i'm sure i'm getting fleeced on the price of the RDX to make up for it . Going this route we would owe about $10,000 after the mazda sale + trade in on civic. its not an ideal situation, but it is manageable.
At this point though, we are wondering if its REALLY worth the extra 10g's to get the 09 for the little bit of extra warranty left, the memory driver seat and power passenger seat, as well as the built in bluetooth.
Should i be worried about anything reliability related with getting the 2 year older 07? i understand its still fairly low km for that year.
Are there any major services i'm most likely about to encounter if i picked the car up at 83,000km? as far as fluid changes go, i always do my own oil, do my own diff oil changes in the s2k, and can handle stuff like that.
Sorry for the long rant but just wanted to make sure that we were looking in the right direction! hope to be a part of the RDX owners club here very soon!
Thanks!

suskaS2K...we have an RDX with memory seats and Pilot without. I wish our Pilot had them because whenever I get into it after my wife, I have to spend extra time fiddling with the seats to get them comfortable. Not a biggee and not something that would stop me from buying an outstanding car though.

just remember 07-09 have the same look which most people favor over the 10-12 models. however the 09 is the last year to have the firmer suspension and picks up memory seats, passenger 4 way power seat, rearview auto dimming mirror over 07,08.
10-12 models have softer suspension, and you pick up a usb port in the center console, guide lines in the rear view camera (tech models), weather function on nav also.
i have the 09 as you can see, i hope this helps in the decision.

Mileage wise, the 07-09 are pretty much identical. I have 75,000 miles (120,000 km) on my 08 RDX and it still runs like new. I think the differences between the 07 and 09 base models are:
- memory seats: 09
- bluetooth: 09
- stiffer suspension: 07
- Auto dimming rearview mirror: 09
- few more M.I.D. settings: 09
- power passenger seat:09
It is a nice feeling not having a car payment. I don't think the 09 is worth an extra $10,000 for a few tech goodies listed above. You might be able to split the difference and find and 08 RDX tech in your color choice? I enjoy the ELS system, navi, traffic, back-up camera, Bluetooth, and memory seats.

Not owing anything Vs 10K? how long will you take to pay for that? I think that if you can make that kind of payment in say a year or 1-1/2 I would start considering the 09, if not, the differences (as mrgold said) are not that significant to spend the extra cash.

Keep the Civic, you'll miss it when it is gone (especially the great fuel economy).
