Angry 670 miles on my RDX and someone rear ended me last night!

Just like the title says. My friend called me at 3AM last light because they had too much to drink and didn't want to drive home. I went to get them being the good friend. After picking them up I was the second car in waiting for the light to change when I was rear ended. I got out and the 2002 Couger that struck me looks like it hit a brick wall while my RDX had a slight scratch in the center of the bumper. One side of the bumber looks like it hangs lower than the other side. I just couldn't believe what had happened let alone how well the RDX held up to the impact! The person that hit me is at total fault. She even admitted to the cop to talking on her cell phone at the time and wasn't watching the road!

If I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any at all!!!

Upone further inspection the passenger rear bumper is actually pushed up where the impact took place.

Yes, I just got off the phone with her insurance company. She's at fault and her insurance company will be paying for everything.

I am taking it to my Acura dealership and having their shop do the repairs. That way I know they will not skimp out on any repairs and the paint should match.

I hope that I this falls under getting a loaner from the Acura dealership!

yeah looks like the whole muffler assembly is bent up. Hopefully it didn't go past that. Looks like you'll need a new bumper cover. Luckily those cougars slope pretty low in the front, and they probably hit their brakes just before hitting you which sent their nose into the ground. Hope it's just cosmetic besides the exhaust which is easily replaceable....

I feel your pain, dude. New year's day, driving home at 5 am--totally sober, just sick of sleeping on my friend's couch--this cab crosses over two lanes to make a right. Unfortunately, I was in the right hand lane, directly in his path to right-turn freedom. The damage doesn't look horrible--just some denting over the wheel well, deep scratches on the rim, streaks of green paint (cab's color) and the paint was completely sheared off in several places. It's in the shop, and I'm rollin' in a toyota corolla.

Sorry to hear about this, but the RDX looks like it handled the collision very well.

Your RDX really looks to have stood up well! Too bad one of us has to get hit to see just how tough the RDX really is. Was there any damage to the frame? Does it drive OK without any pull or shimmy?
I feel bad for you!

Wow that really stinks but I mean really that car doesnt look bad AT ALL. Like if someone was walking next to it they probably wouldnt even notice it. I think you got pretty luck and at least everyone in your car was ok.

Too bad your friend cannot handle their liquor or get themselves home on their own after a night of drinking. Good thing your RDX protected you but now the accident will lower your resale value.

I would be upset at my friend.

I am also sorry to hear about your accident. If you do not mind, could you post what the Acura dealer will charge you to fix your RDX? I do not know what muffler repairs will be but I think the lower plastic parts of the vehicle is supposed to be easier (i.e., cheaper) to repair as it was designed to handle doors opening into curbs or backing into posts.

Doesn't look too bad, I'm curious of the cost and what the dealer is going to do to it also

no way man, a good friend is hard to find, and he was being a good friend. he could have declined to do anything. he should be mad at the lady who hit him not his friend.

Had mine for 5wks,deer runs in the driver side. Hit front head light assembly all the way back to the rear. 3800$ damage + repairs took around ten days. had to get parts off assembly line...looks great!

Update: The striking vehicles insurance company will be out this Monday to write an estimate on the damage. Once I have the estimate in hand I can drop it off at my Acura dealership for repair. I been in conversation back and forth with the repair manager and he can't order any parts until he has the estimate. I will post what the insurance company writes the estimate for.
