40 psi tire pressure, normal?

Hey guys,

I just checked my tire pressure reader last night when the car was cold. It says each tire has 40 psi, is that a good number?

Check the tag on the inside of the drivers side door jam. That gives the recommended pressure.
I have played with 30, 31,32, 35 lbs. I perfer 31 all the way around.

There are other threads that suggest that they overfill for shipment to avoid getting a "flat spot" on the tire. They the dealer neglects to check at prep time. My RDX came with 42 pounds.

After buying, I let some air out of my tires to get to 32. Just took it in for a B1 and got it back with 36 in the tires. So I let some out again to get to 33. Annoying that Acura techs can't follow instructions.

Yeah, some of the lazy techs just go to 35psi on everything that comes in.

You have to take into consideration that if you have to check the air pressure once the car has been sitting for 4 hours or more.

35-36psi could account for expansion due to heat.
