"It's not known....performance or fuel economy tweaks.."

Upgrading the engine to DFI and the appropriate cylinder compression ratio of ~12:1 would be exceedingly nice. If Mazda can do it.....

2010 RDX spied! New grill treatment

I just found pictures of the 2010 RDX with new grille treatment.
Head over to leftlane or vtec for the pictures as I dont know if I can take their picture over.
Any thought or comment?

Oh sorry I wasnt looking and it has been posted already. Please delete post.

The grill looks alright. The main thing is not to make it gigantic like they did on the TL. I wish they would have changed up the rims and I do not like the old MDX-like tailpipes.

I told ya!! I told ya!!!

I knew that the new grill had to be part of the refresher....I like the tail though....I can dig the new face, it doesn't look as bad as the other models....we'll see when they take the covers off.....

I don't like it! Sorry. The current grill is awesome IMO. I hate that "beak" look. I don't care for the MDX leftover exhaust tips and bumper fascia changes, front and rear. Don't care for the mini fog lights. The wheels are current model and need a change.

@ least ur thread title was more clear about what it was about ... I notice the double grill/vents are gone (so it seems). Could this mean a v6 under the hood instead of a turbo?

Temple of vtech claims rumors of a FWD version may be coming to help sales....

cant imagine the RDX without the SHAWD, i wonder how it would handle...i like the squared off exhaust integrated into the rear, makes it look a bit more upscale, but not sure how i feel about the over bite lip on the bumper & the overall look....looks fat/wide

I think that the FWD version will help, reduce the cost of the car, improve fuel economy and it will handle like any other CUV with only FWD (highlander??)
Also, although I like the dual exhaust, it's a 4 cylinder, is it really necessary (function, not looks).
As for the engine, I don't think that they will come out with a V6, the one they can borrow is the TL and I believe that it will make the car way too expensive.....well, there is always the good ole faithful accord engine too....

I don't think they will use a V6. I don't see them going FWD either. This is a light freshening I'm guessing. You won't see anything significant changed.

I could also see a power boost of a few HP (or just a more realistic number).

If they do go FWD, perhaps a 240hp version with a 260 hp SH-AWD?

*This short edit thing annoys me.

I think it's funny that this article refers to CUV's as an "ever-expanding market". Maybe if they mean that more and more manufacturers are competing for a smaller and smaller set of buyers!

I could definately see a FWD variation....basically because when you dont need it, why make it or force it on the consumer? Most brands have 2 versions. Why not offer it? the benefits outweigh the drawbacks

If this thing gets a V6, my pants will fall off. I dont see how they could do that....i think they will slightly alter the power ratings (like honda does all the time) and add a few HP or whatever.... If the RDX doesnt have the diesel it was supposed to get by now...i doubt theyd introduce a V6 instead of it.

The new grille looks good when grayed out. Not sure how nice it'll be when that silver/chrome trim shows through. I wish they did more with the sides...even flared wheel wells would've complimented the aggressive front and rear ends.

More discussion on autoblog:
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/02/s...shield-grille/

As some others said, the spied grill doesn't look bad on the RDX, especially if it matches the color of the car. Acura is making minor body tweaks, but maybe they're updating the engine to provide better mileage.

its not bad because its the least offensive, and the RDX, IMO, is now the best looking, most neutral, timeless design in Acura's line up. The MDX is a close second...the sedans make me want to puke now, I used to love the last RL, especially in that white color, such a classy vehicle, something perhaps on par w/german classyness, and they have now turned that into another retarded array of lines and pointless design tweaks.

thank god for the RDX, because honestly, not a fan of Acura right now, at all. they left it alone for the most part.

I dunno about that....havent a lot of people moved down from mid/fullsize SUVs to CUV's? People who still want some of the practicality of an SUV but in a slightly smaller package?

Perhaps. And that would make sense. But it seems that sales of the RDX, EX35, GLK, X3, etc. have been less than the manufacturers would have wanted.

regardless of how it looks, it's still good to know that the RDXs are here to stay for at least another year.

Sure, but CUV's as a whole are (or were) the fastest growing segment. Bread and Butter versions are big sellers - premium ones don't seem to have the same demand.

Don't expect any major changes. This is just Acura's last chance attempt to spur sales with some familiar bodywork. It's pretty clear from the photos that they are trying to better blend the RDX in to the family by giving it TL/TSX/RDX styling cues. Who knows, maybe more people will buy it if they think it is a baby MDX or TL station wagon.

another miss.

someone must think it looks good. they are trying to forge a common look.
trouble is, it doesnt look good. i would abandon it. reminds me of subaru's attempt with the funny looking square on the nose of their car.

they would be better concentrating on paint quality and sound isolation.

Interesting, as these are two of the items I'm rather pleased with on my RDX. I do think they could improve the quality of interior materials and add a few seemingly-obvious technology features, though.

you are pleased with the sound isolation? Ive been in cars that cost 15k that deaden sound better than this thing. Ill praise the RDX on many issues, sound isolation and refinement is NOT one of them. Thing sounds horrendous during operation, from the suspension noises, to wind entering the cabin, to the overall level of exterior noise that enters, Acura should be ashamed.

on another note, i was at a restraunt this weekend and someone had parked an MDX next to me. While i first thought the bumber looked good on the RDX, i changed my mind. I like the regular more classic lines of the RDX, as its the last car in Acuras lineup to look NORMAL, and it works with the RDX. MDX is fine with it, but the rear of the RDX looks better left alone imo, now seeing them next to eachother

If they do come out with a FWD RDX, it will probably make the RDX (with FWD) the cheapest vehicle of the Acura fleet no?

On a side note, i was at Orlando autoshow about a month ago, and a guy in the Acura section (that I know because he is the one who took me on a RDX test drive) told me then that the new front grille was coming next year for the RDX... that he's been selling a lot of TSX lately, and that yes... A LOT of customers complain about the new look...
Oh he also told me that the new "full color screen" from the new TL will be in the new RDX (he then showed me the screen, and no it is still not touch screen).
Finally I inquired him about a possible Diesel or Hybrid model. He told me a fuel efficient engine would probably come in a few years with the RDX II, but it won't be hybrid (because they don't "master the technology like toyota does" whatever that means...) and probably not a diesel either. He said Honda/Acura are doing a lot or R&D right now on FUEL CELL technology.

If it gets the screen from the new TL, that's the best upgrade! The TL's screen is really awesome. Even more so, if it includes the TL's ability to play mp3 off a usb device. Maybe they'll throw in the TL's backup camera and guidelines, which would make the camera actually useful

Oh yeah, I remember he wanted to show the new features of the backup camera with guidelines, but he could not get the demo TL in reverse so he could not show me...

But yeah, according to him all these new stuff are coming to the next RDX.

The only thing I can hope about the wheels is that they are still in "spy" mode - so they used the same ones as current. The easiest way to refresh the looks of a vehicle is new wheels. The tires are definitely not the same in those pics.
