2010 RDX FWD Transmission Fluid Flush?
Hi guys,
I was looking at the maintenance schedule for the 2010 RDX, and since there is no mileage correlation with the MID, at how many miles should I be replacing the transmission fluid? Is there an actual mileage schedule that shows when everything should be done? Thanks.

It will probably signal for your first change at around 90k. Not sure if it bases this off specific MID cycles or if it just picks the first one after said mileage, but look for it around there. As a reference I'm at 74k and haven't had it pop yet - if I remember I'll pop back in when it does, but it may be several months.

Most auto manufactures have what they call "life time" fluid, hence there's no mileage limit in the MID or in the manual.
except that it's not a life time fluid. it wears and breaks down just like engine oil
just through experience, I've learned to change out the transmission fluid at about 30k mile intervals to keep things fresh.
you'll want to do a 3x3.
drain 3 quarts fill 3 quarts.
do this 3 times.

I have 2009 RDX and it has 89400 miles (I'm an original owner). The service code just came up and required transmission fluid change (B13). This is the first time it came up and will be the first trans fluid change on my car. I checked the fluid on the dip stick and it is still red (not brown) which means the fluid is not burnt. I will do the 2X drain/fill.

I'm at 98k mi and have never gotten the trans fluid change mid reminder. I asked the Acura tech about it and he said that it my not have come up do to my doing maint and resetting mid codes before they came due.
Tech said do the first change at about 60-70k mi.
I drain and refill about 3 qts every other oil change.
One time.
I fill it through the dip stick port.
I let it drain for at least an hour. (on oil changes too)
I do not refill to the micro-liter method recommended in the DIY sticky. Close enough is fine.
I spread the dilution time out over a year.
With about 3ea - 3qt ATF changes per yr I have accomplished about the same thing as the 3 times 3 qt method.
It's too easy!

Coming up on 5 years with about 43K miles on vehicle. Figured it would be time to doe both oil and transmission (1X) once the oil is due. Where do people buy the Transmission Fluid and how much per quart approx.? Thanks.

hues10, I'm with you. ~44K+mi and planning to do the tranny flush. from what i've read, the original ATF ("Z1") has been discontinued and the current fluid is "DW1", so I'm guessing any Honda/Acura dealers would have that. was going to hit up my local dealer this coming weekend. appreciate any info others might have!

Amazon has Honda DW1 ATF- 1 case/12 qts - $86.73 free shipping = $7.24 per qt.
It's too easy! I use 3 qts 3 times a year.
If you are not into amazon, get your local H/A dealer to price match the amazon price.

I haven't been on this forum as regularly, but I just saw this thread after just recently doing a 3X Drain and Fill last month (driving a bit in between each). I wanted to let people know that it's darn difficult to know the proper fill level based upon just the dip stick. The amount that comes out each time also varies. I measured what I drained precisely each time and replaced that exact amount each time. First time was 3 qt 12 oz; 2nd 3 qt 25 oz and 3rd 3 qt 16 oz. The first time I had just raised the front, the other two times I raised all four wheels approximating level. I had waited until 44k miles before doing this and I saved samples to compare - I had previously thought 3X was overkill, but there was noticeable differences through the three. After having done this I regret that I just didn't start out from new doing it every other oil change (which would approximate about every 10k). If you look at the DIY on this forum and set up a funnel to fill through the dip stick it's really just as simple as an oil change. At about $28 mucks each drain/fill I think it's well worth the effect it should have on longevity and shift performance to do it every second oil change.
