2007 RDX after 135,000kms

Quick update on 2007 RDX with 135,000 kms
  • Engine is still running smoothly, starts up smoothly and idling smoothly
  • Regular oil changes according to MID, roughly every 7500 kms. Use Pennzoil platinum religiously.
  • Put in a bottle of Lubri-Moly Jectron every 3 months to keep the injectors clean and intake valves clean
  • Replaced front and rear rotors with aftermarket cross-drilled units. Replaced worn pads with Acura OEM pads. Stops great and quietly. No more vibration under hard braking.
  • flushed autotrans fluid at 100,000kms, and have been replacing rear axle fluid once a year.
  • Brake fluid was flushed with brake rotors/pads replacement
  • Still a great vehicle for snow
  • will have to replace it in a year or so.

Aside from the relatively poor gas mileage, which this turbo engine is known for, it has served our family needs well.

I'm curious why you will have to replace the RDX in a year or so, is there an issue with the car or it just doesn't fit your needs? I just hit 300,000km on my 04 TSX a week ago and it's still going strong, everything works, no need for replacement yet.

good question.

The RDX was purchased way back in 2007, and it was our family car, son was still a young teenager. We were also staying in a mountain community, so during winter, the RDX was great in getting up the snow covered road to our house.

Now our son is in the university and driving on his own, and we have moved down the mountain, hence not really in need of a vehicle that has that kind of traction capability like the RDX. Plus the vehicle is quite a fuel guzzler for a small turbo. Looking to get a fuel efficient car replacement for the RDX.

By all means, trade it if you want.

That said, rarely does it make mathematical sense to trade just for better MPG's (have you done the math?).

So, now that you've moved, the RDX is too safe for you?

Yup, did the math... really wanted to get a new reliable fuel efficient small car for the young lad so that he can drive it for the next long while. The RDX will be 9 years old in April. Definitely served our needs well...
If it was not a fuel guzzler, I would have maybe kept it going, and just buy an extra car for my son.
