08 RDX vs. 09 Nissan Murano

I am looking for suggestions and/or comparison data between 08 RDX and 09 Nissan Murano. With the current deals going on 08 RDX, 09 Murano w/Nav is coming out to be a little more expensive (and no low APR, at least I couldn't find one). I like Murano's look and space better than RDX's.

But still I would really appreciate if anyone can throw more light on more technical details or share personal experiences with those two cars.

Thanks.

Thumbs up Turbo Junkie

Murano is bigger more family oriented with a smoohter powertrian via 3.5 VQ engine. The RDX is smaller sportier and super handling (and better looking imho) The powertrain on the RDX is very powerfull but can be a bit random at times. Dont get me wrong the turbo is great but it is different and some folks are not used to the power surge. Personally I wouldn't have it any other way than force induced

The RDX is nice but ummmm, feels too much like a toy for my taste. And that turbo. Eh. The trunk space is okay but since when has Acura ever turboed a car? Wanna risk long term wear and tear issues?

The whole front end of the murano is fucking ugly. I fucking HATE the CVT transmission. Is it working or is it just slipping? Fucking please!!! High revving but no physical reaction matching the roaring sound of the engine. I fucking HATE that shit. Trunk space is tiny.

My recommendation: Get a used FX45. Gobs of horsepower. GREAT EXHAUST NOTE. WIDE SPORTY WHEELS. Spectacular styling on the inside. I love the leather seats. I'm not too crazy about that aerodynamic igloo look but I like it better than the Murano's incomplete look. You feel like you're in a very sporty, classy SUV. Trunk space is also tiny but about the same size as the Murano.

I test drove an Infiniti EX35 today and it blows away the Murano.

EX's back seat can barely fit in, worse than RDX
IMO, EX just seems more like an lifted wagon instead of a smaller-sized SUV

But I wish that RDX's backseat can be adjustable like the RAV4s

Blows it away, how? EX is a 2-3 person car. The backseat is for children. It's not in the same class as Murano, a legitimate 5-passenger vehicle.

I test-drove both before buying an RDX. Both cars have good features. I really preferred the ride of the RDX. The Murano felt "boaty"; suspension handled like grandpa's car.

I thought about this too, but used FX45's are pretty rare, especially if you want a CPO one.

I'm not to worried about the longevity of a Honda motor.

good choice...they both have there plusses, as in the Murano's abundance of equipment and features, but what u get in that area you are not getting the RDX's drive/handling/powertrain/SHAWD (i dont have a single worry about a Honda powertrain in the long run)

If you consider a car for rear seat space then the EX is not for you. The Murano is longer and wider then the EX so it should have more cargo space. Try comparing the Murano to the FX. I could not care less about the back seat. My last car was an Audi TT coupe. The EX blows away the Murano in performance, styling, interior, and luxury features. If you want cargo and seating space then get a Honda Pilot.

For married guys with two to three teenagers, the EX is totally useless. I agree that a bachelor guy might want one, but for the family guy it's way too small and ueless.

I never understood how what is essentially a G35 wagon could be shrunk so much in interior dimensions.

The Murano is bigger for sure. The interior is nice. The drive is nothing special at all. Definately a softer cushier ride to the sportier RDX. Much more body roll. It is geared as a competitor to the Lexus RX 350, so it is more about comfort and luxury than it is about sport. Also, loaded it was $40k. I just coudn't bring myself to spend $40k on a Nissan. It all comes down to preference, certainly the RDX is a very nice ride as is the Murano.
