Tires for 97 2.2CL

Hey I've had a question i was thinkin upgradin to 17"s and had a question about tires. Now Im thinking of getting some 17x7 Rims off of ebay, they cheap and if i bend or crack one of em they cheap to replace. My question is what tire size would i need, car's suspension hasnt been messed with so its pretty much stock. I live in Los Angeles roads here are shittey so would i need 215/45/17 or 215/40/17 please let me kno and if u guys got any hook ups for either let me know.

instead of buying cheap rims and replacing them often (which would end up being expensive and a headache) you should get high quality rims in the first place

?
