New center cap yay or nay?

just made this new center cap. i wanted to get some feedback on what everyone thinks before i go ahead and make the other three. the old center cap is pictured here above the new one i made. personally i think the new one looks a lot cleaner and more tasteful but how about you guys? yay or nay?

Looks like it is larger than the actual center cap under it.
Is that so?
If it's just a disc you put on the old one, which is hanging over the edge of that old one, I say no go.
Can you trim the outer edge to make it line up?
If all else fails, you could probably just paint that old center cap and put an A sticker on it..

yea it is a bit larger than the original. i had to use the old cap to mount the face of the new one on bc the teeth of the new one were slightly too large in diameter. i could try trimming it down to be flush with a dremel but im worried i dont have a steady enough hand to make it even haha

Yeah that is what I would worry about too. If you have a hole saw you could try that out. It might be hard to figure out a way to keep the centercap from moving, but if you figured something out, that might be a great way to go. Then you could just sand the edges to smooth it out, and maybe hit it with a bit of spray paint.

sorry dude that looks really bad being bigger than the original cap
it reminds me of the big emergency red buttons that are have a bigger top like a mushroom

but if you could shave the outside off and make it the same size as the original, then it wouldn't look so bad, depending on how much needs to come off

It really may be easier to just paint the centercaps and get A decals.

Not sure how big those centercaps are, but you could check these out.
3 inches - http://www.empiregfx.com/shop/produc...cat=252&page=1

Or you could get some like these
http://www.decalsplanet.com/category-2-acura.html
or
http://www.misterdecal.com/magento/a...nyl-decal.html
and cut out the A

Or you could just have some made.
Maybe others know of better places. I've never looked into it until now.

There's a thread on H-T under the Wheel and Tire subforum with info on different OEM center caps. You might be able to find something that fits better than your current ones. I like the idea though. The silver seems to match up pretty good.

Yeah, I have a set of black center caps just like those that are too small for my wheels that I'm actually sellin, but I just got stick on acura emblems to go on the caps that came with the wheels, you should look into that.

I don't think you will be able to do the A symbol, but you could write out "ACURA"
or your name
or "MOM", which will say "WOW" when upside down!
or "Type R"

what do u think of black and silver emblems instead of the ugly ADR one

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...8&id=172003865

or go with the authentic charcoal / chrome acura ones like on the new mdx/rdx

Can't see your link, but I would go with an authentic Acura cap over an ADR cap or any sticker.

so you have un-mounted center caps for your un-mounted wheels sorry mr mega mod sir, please do not hurt me

and those center caps look dope btw, do you just adhere it to the existing center caps, or do they replace them?

I'm planning to just adhere over, and they won't be unmounted for much longer spring is upon us

Yep, I bought a set of those 98-99, and now I"m trying to sell them because I can't use them. Someone with a 98-99 should buy my center caps

on another note, can't wait to see the rims on your car Chris!

When I had my blaze orange metallic rsx...I had some custom made ones by "fastsigns". Cost me 40 bucks but I thought it was really cool to have matching colored A's.

Maybe have ones made that are red with the A in black...or silver with the A in red to match the car.

NICE
