How to fix the "floaty" suspension?

My previous car was a very sporty ride with good handling, etc.. Anyway, i'm having trouble getting used to the floaty ride on the CL. I like to be able to feel the road when i'm driving.. and the CL feels like i have no control and it's floating out from under me, even at slow speeds and going straight. (there's nothing wrong with the suspension, just too floaty for me)

Would just aftermarket shocks do this? What about different wheels? I'm not really interested in lowering my car unless i must for better handling.

This car comes with OEM mushy dampers.. I found it especially bothersome with the up-and-down motions at over 65 mph and in the way the car pitches up and down with braking and shifting.

Pretty much any aftermarket shock is made to work best with lowering springs. I have had Eibach Pro Kit and Tokico Illumina since April and it's wonderful.. it will get rid of 75% of the dive and squat that was there before. Pro Kit is not the most sporty lowering spring though, it's good for if you want to keep a highly streetable car with a tolerable ride quality and not lower it so much that you scrape the exhaust on speed bumps, etc.

Coilovers will give you the feel you want. Different wheels won't do much unless you get lower profile/wider tires.

or you can cut your springs, that will give you the rough ride you seek.
