97 2.2 17" backspacing/offset

Hi. Sorry, this is surely covered, but I can't seem to find it by searching. I'll say up front that my main daily driver is a Nissan 4x4, this is my wifes car that is mostly stock. I have a 97 stock height 2.2 CL. I'd like to keep the stock suspension, as this is my road trip car and her daily driver, and I'm just looking at gooing +1 to 17's. (maybe +2, who knows...) I have 215-55/16 (stock), and would like to roll roughly 225-40 or 45/17 or so. I'm good on tires, but am looking for input on specs for rims for this specific car. I'd like to gain a slight "deep dish" look, without running into rubbing issues. Nothing major really, if I could score an inch of depth from lip to the inside face of the rim, I'd be thrilled, but I'm not sure how far one can go. Any suggestions, or links to where I should be looking? Thanks!

Ok, I'd already admit that I might go 18's, but I'm aiming low cost cause the Mrs. is no stranger to curbs and potholes. So if anybody has insight on either/both, let me know please.
