225's On A 3.0cl

ok, so, there's a special on 225/50/16 --- bridgestone potenza RE010's.

$30bux eac. I need new tires, but dont plan on keeping the car for more than another 10k/year -- so they should last (apparentlyl they wear sorta quick)

BUT.

I have the stock 6.5" wide rims---- according to one of those tire calcs,

an oem 205/55/16 car with the 225/50/16's will only have the speedo off by 0.1%.

BUT. are the 225's too wide for the rims??

Basically....

What are my sizes I can Safely go with?

205/55/16
205/60/16
215/55/16
215/50/16
??
thanks!!!! response asap is appreciated!

it's not too wide.
other board members are running 225 on the 16's.

your gas mileage will suffer though..

from my understanding, the norm is usaully 205/55/16____215/??/17____225/40/18....but i do know that say 215 would work on the 16" wheels because i almost got some 215 tires.

the numbers on the tire are all inproportion to the rim size. in other words take my 18's for example. i got 215/35/18's on now, they are 1/4 inch shorter than my 205/55-16's in other words the 225 isnt a generic width.. the physical measurement is different between all rim sizes.

I have 225/50/16' on my stock rims and its fine. The rear tire is VERY close a suspension component in the rear, but it never ever rubs.
