yes, they have tranny problems on the 3.0 slushboxes. As far as you having 90k on it, unless you bought an extended warranty, no dice man, sorry.
With the hard shifting, how long has it been since you've done a fluid change ( not a flush, please, dont flush it )? How is it on upshifts? When you say it bangs, how hard? Earlier Hondas did not have the smoothest shifts out there, so is this "hard" compared to a prior vehicle or is it that bad of a bang?

My transmission does the same thing--I bought an extended warranty on it, but since I don't have a "check engine light" on, they won't consider it a problem. They could dissassemble the entire transmission and look for a part that failed, but if they can't find that then the entire teardown is on me. So I wait for the check engine light.
I have a theory though, and I could be totally wrong. Some people here have mentioned that the transmission shifts harder when the vehicle is not warmed up. My engine temperature gauge never goes all the way to half warm. It's somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3'rds to the half way mark. Maybe a thermostat or other cooling issue can cause hard shifts because the ECU assumes the car is still warming up? What does your temp gauge say?
