starter rebuild kit??
does anyone know if there is a rebuild kit available for the starter?
It starts fine, but it seems to stay engaged (the starter) and cause a lot of squealing for about 5 seconds. the car is a 2.3 automatic |
you might not need a started rebuild kit. Sounds like the bendix is sticking when it engages the drive onto the fly wheel. You can take the starter apart and clean the bendix pivot points. Might also be the solenoid sticking open (which engages the bendix), if that is the case you can buy a new solenoid.

Thanks! that is definitely worth trying. A "new" starter is $140 for a rebuilt unit.

yeah def try playing with it for a while. If you break it, most places will send a new/remaned one free shipping in your town so at least you dont have to adventure out from your house :)
Good luck! |
I wrestled with this on my 2.2 Manual. I just took apart the solenoid plunger portion, cleaned it up and reassembled. That worked for a few months but I ultimately had to go to toyota and buy the contact rebuild kit for it. The parts are like $15. I don't remember the part numbers, but I know if you google "integra starter rebuild diy" you will find a thread with pics and part numbers. I think I even made a post for it here someplace.
