Oil Leak Near Tranmission

Hey guys,

So I notice I have an oil leak on my 97 3.0 CL.

I looked underneath and I see a good amount of oil stain near where the engine\oil pan meets the transmission.

Anyone been through this before? I am hoping it is just the oil pan gasket gone bad?

No oil near oil filter or oil drain plug. A good amount of oil near said place above? Is there a crank shaft seal that could be the cause of this?

I just cleaned up the area and will be checking it tomorrow.

^ Thanks! That is what I am hoping it is! Because I don't want to spend $900 dollars to have the dealer replace a $15 part (Rear Main Seal)

Well, I opened up the little black cover that covers the pressure plate, and it doesn't seem to be wet or dirty with oil stains on the plate! I guess that is a good sign!

The only oily part was the 2 bolts (Covered by the black cover plate) and anything below it! So I am gonna buy some RTV and replace the gasket!

Update:

I think I've fixed my oil leak. I had to drop the oil pan and bought HondaBond and resealed it. I checked it on day 5 after the fix and so far no leak. Hopefully it holds up.
