New '97 acura cl 2.2

Hey all,
So not too long ago I picked up a 1997 Acura CL 2.2 for a project car.

Well, Its been a couple of months and I havent done anything with it yet besides oil changes, New rear Rotars, Rear Break pads and a Rear Left Caliper. That was because the car was and is in pretty under par condition.

The reason I am posting is because I would like to know how I go about making this car look great and perform like the champ it once was!

Any suggestions from other CL owners? Where do I start? Engine? Transmission? Suspension? Paint & looks?

Let me know guys... Thanks!

There is also a slight "tinging" coming from the engine lately... have no idea what that could be.

Welcome. I would get the engine checked out, sounds like you may need a valve adjustment

As for the performance and looks, have a look around the site. There's lots of info here

Yeah I would definitely start with the engine to make sure that it is sound before you start spending money on aesthetics. First I would take it to a shop and have them check the engine to see if there are any issues. Is your orange check engine light on? I am basically starting where you are. I just had my CV joints and ball joints replaced, new rear brakes, new oil, tranny fluid, brake fluid, coolant, and spark plugs and wires done. My check engine light came back with an erg valve problem and O2 sensor problem, which I am having fixed next week. It runs a million times better and can't wait to see how it's going to run after next week. I feel much better about the car now and now I don't need to worry about the motor, I can now focus on my new body panels, new wheels, suspension, etc.!

It wouldn't hurt to have a mechanic check the water pump and timing belt. When these fail the repair could be costly.
