Idling Strange
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this thread and I'm hoping someone can enlighten me on an issue with my 99 CL
I was driving home yesterday and the car was running fine, I came to a stop and noticed the car was not idoling right. as if it was idling high. The check engine light began to flash on and off. When the traffic light changed green I accelerated and the car accelerated fine. drove fine...
Started the car up this morning (the check engine light didn't turn on) and noticed the same problem. It drives ok but the idol obviously isn't ok. Someone mentioned that perhaps the alternator is the culprit or maybe the fuel injection. Any ideas??? Any help would be much appreciated

If the check engine light is flashing, its a misfire. If you see the light flashing again, get it scanned so that you can know exactly what's going on.

Yea, scanning the car would be your best bet. Just to be sure, take out your plugs (make sure the head is not hot when you do), see their condition. Could be a misfire that happens time to time, and you wont feel it.

I think I had the same problem. The car would sit at idle and just rev up to 3000 rpm. I replaced the MAP sensor but that did not fix it. I needed to remove the throttle body and clean out the IAC sensor. It is located on the bottom of the throttle body. There is a flap or a gate that should move up and down freely. Mine did not it was stuck solid. I cleaned it out with carb cleaner it took a good hour just to get it to move again. I would say try that out first since you may only loose about an hour of your time and a can of carb cleaner.
