Can the intake manifold gasket leak coolant into the oil?
1997 Acura CL 3.0, (v6) 156K miles, great shape, original engine.
Can the intake manifold gasket leak coolant into the oil?
My old Acura is running great but it has an oil leak diagnosed as an intake manifold gasket leak. (The leak started perhaps 6 months after switching to synthetic oil which is supposed to be better for the engine.) The first mechanic said it would just leak oil, no danger, so could repair it when I liked. Various online research suggests this leaking gasket can leak antifreeze into the oil which can cause big problems. Does anyone know which one is true for this Acura? Curiously, the leak slowed after losing two quarts over a month (perhaps the high mileage oil I used helped revitalize the gasket?) BTW - I've pulled the radiator cap - no sign of oil in the antifreeze. Checking the oil dipstick oil cap, and looking into the engine with the oil cap off, I didn't see any milky residue or chocolate milk looking fluid indicative of the mix. Took it to get oil changed just in case and the mechanic there said the oil looked good. I also just added a quart of oil Stop leak 150 miles ago. Will see what that does. Thanks!
