a/c receiver
Has anyone replaced one of these on their own? If so, how difficult is it?
I got a new a/c compressor and was told that the receiver needs to be replaced whenever the compressor is. The shop quoted me $350 for total install, but I wanted to see if I could just do it on my own.

I have not personally replaced one, but from what I read anyplace when servicing A/C stuff you need to get yourself a vacuum pump and manifold gauges from autozone. Obviously you need to dispose of the refrigerant properly and depressurize the system. Also I know that when you replace parts in the loop you need to make sure you put refrigerant oil into the system again. As far as changing the part, i think it is as simple as draining the system, unbolting that part and putting a new one in. And recharging is where the vacuum pump comes in, need to let it suck on the system for quite a while to get it to like -28 vacuum pressure? Then you can refill it and enjoy.
